SAN DIEGO — Democratic Congressman Mike Levin appears poised to keep his seat in the House of Representatives, according a scientific poll released Tuesday.The ABC-10News Union-Tribune poll showed Levin ahead of Republican Brian Maryott 49 to 37 in the 49th Congressional District, which stretches from Del Mar into southern Orange County. Levin, a first-term Congressman, defeated Republican Diane Harkey in 2018, flipping the seat longheld by Republican Darrell Issa, who decided not to seek re-election amid changing voter demographics. "We're going to do everything we can to leave no stone unturned for the next 50 days or so to make sure that we keep the 49th this coming November," Levin said. Democrats now outnumber Republicans in the district by about 3 percent. The SurveyUSA poll shows, however, that 13 percent of Republicans surveyed said they planned to vote for Levin. Meanwhile, just 2 percent of Democrats said they'd support Maryott. "If it was 25 percent or higher I would say something's going on," said political analyst John Dadian. "(Levin's) been an incumbent for two years, his challenger is an elected official but not in a good majority of the region."Maryott said it was still early in the race and that he and his campaign are working to get their message out. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A convicted rapist wanted in New York for violating his parole by leaving the state pleaded not guilty Monday in a San Diego courtroom to burglary charges. Dale Dulac, 57, faces charges in San Diego of auto burglary and possession of stolen property, according to the District Attorney's Office. Dulac is being held on 0,000 bail for the San Diego charges, said George Modlin, deputy district attorney. But he also remains jailed as a fugitive from New York, where authorities say he violated the terms of his parole on Sept. 20 by leaving the state. San Diego police arrested Dulac Friday after officers recognized him walking in the 1500 block of Imperial Avenue. New York authorities said last week that Dulac had been spotted at a San Diego bus station and in San Marcos. According to media reports out of New York, Dulac was released on parole in 2015. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 52-year-old man was struck and gravely injured Sunday in a San Diego trailer park, and the motorist who hit him in a stolen Hummer was arrested.The incident began just after 11:10 a.m. when the San Diego police received a call from Chula Vista police who were involved in the pursuit of the stolen Hummer, SDPD Lt. Andra Brown said.The Hummer was snatched from a RoadOne impound yard in Chula Vista, SDPD Lt. Bryan Brecht told the media.The vehicle initially crashed at a gas station at 1400 Melrose Ave. in Chula Vista, but continued evading police south on Interstate 5, exiting into a trailer park at 1600 Palm Ave., Brown said.Officers tried to stop the driver but he sped away and hit the pedestrian, Brown said. It appeared the collision was intentional, Brown added.The 44-year-old driver was eventually taken into custody with help from a K-9 dog deployed to stop him, Brown said. The driver was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries before being taken into custody.
