(KGTV) - Smugglers tried to unload a boat full of marijuana next to multi-million dollar homes in Del Mar early Monday, the Border Patrol said.The panga came ashore between Carmel Valley Rd. and 4th St. about 3 a.m.Border Patrol agents said they detained at least two people who were unloading bales of marijuana.Each bundle of pot contained between 30 and 50 pounds of the plant.The smell of marijuana was strong a dozen feet away, according to 10News photographer Paul Anderegg.  510

DENVER -- In an exclusive interview with Scripps station KMGH in Denver, a veteran Denver police detective has accused Mayor Michael Hancock of sexually harassing her when she worked on Hancock’s security detail in 2011 and 2012. Denver police detective Leslie Branch-Wise says Hancock made inappropriate comments and sent her harassing text messages in 2012, which she provided to KMGH. In one text, Hancock compliments her haircut and writes, “You made it hard on a brotha to keep it correct every day.” 528

For Anna Malic, December 17th is one of them.“It’s our 12 year anniversary,” Malic said.Tragically, this year will be different.“(The kids) realize that daddy’s not here anymore,” Malic said. “They really miss their dad.”For the children, it’s been a huge adjustment. To them, their dad was nothing short of heroic."He was very great,” said 11-year-old Ace. “He was selfless to everybody, even strangers. He would do anything for his family.”“He teached (sic) me how to do self-defense, karate, how to ride a bicycle,” said 9-year-old Anna.Allan Malic lived with passion, moving his family to the U.S. from the Philippines three years ago.He died a fighter, after battling an aggressive form of colon cancer, eventually passing away Thanksgiving Day.“It’s so hard for me, seeing him really deteriorating,” said his wife, Anna. “It was so quick.”Allan was diagnosed in October and died only one month later after undergoing chemotherapy.“It was devastating,” Anna said.A family broken, but still so strong, their story, first shared on Denver7 a few weeks ago, inspired so many in our community.“I’m forever grateful for everything,” Anna said.The community donated thousands of dollars to make Christmas special for the four Malic kids: Ace, 11, Anna, 9, Angelou, 7 and Angel, 5.Denver7 and Sam’s Club of Denver helped to organize a virtual visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.“Do you know what Santa’s favorite cookie is?” Santa asked the children on Wednesday over a Zoom call.“Chocolate chip,” said Anna.We listened to the younger kids brim with excitement about their Christmas wishlists while the older kids broke our hearts.“I’m okay, Santa,” Ace said. “I don’t need anything more.”“I’d like at least a dream about him or with him,” said 9-year-old Anna.After the virtual Santa visit, the fine folks at Sam’s Club answered Santa’s call – delivering dozens of presents to the family’s west Denver home.“We just had a bunch of gifts for the kids and gifts for the mom, as well,” said Jamie Nissen, asset protection manager with Sam’s Club. “There’s just so much joy to be able to come out to a family like this and help; it’s just heartwarming for us here.”“It’s amazing,” said Allan’s wife, Anna. “I’m forever grateful for everything.”And at dusk, thanks to Denver Illuminations, another gift for the kids.“It’s beautiful,” said Ace of the lights Denver Illuminations put up on the Malic house.And finally, one more surprise.A trip to the Denver Zoo for Zoo Lights. DETROIT, Mich. -- The Detroit Police Department is responding to a video that shows an officer fatally shooting a dog in its own yard.Officers say it happened Aug. 3 on the east side of the Michigan city.The video shows the dog in a yard latching onto a police K-9's snout and not letting go. The officer then drew her weapon and shot the dog, which died from its injuries."It's unfortunate that it came to this. We do not like to see any animal hurt, especially these K-9 officers. They are truly dog lovers and champions for K-9s. But at this point, her dog was being severely injured and had no choice," Commander Darin Szilagy said.Detroit police did internally investigate and cleared the officer of any wrongdoing.That K-9 officer continues to be evaluated and treated for injuries. David Bossie, a Trump campaign adviser that is leading the President's legal challenge the outcome of the 2020 election, has contracted COVID-19, according to CNN, USA Today and Bloomberg.Bossie reportedly tested positive for the virus on Sunday, and reports of his diagnosis surfaced in the media on Monday — the same day that reports surfaced that Housing and Urban Development Director Ben Carson had also tested positive for the virus.Bossie reportedly has been traveling between Arizona and Trump campaign headquarters in Virginia, and is often seen without a mask.Bossie is among the legal experts who have been challenging the election outcomes in several states that Trump lost, and in states where the outcome is too close to call. While the Trump campaign has filed several lawsuits, there is still no evidence that widespread voter fraud changed the outcome of the election.Several top officials in the Trump administration — including President Donald Trump himself — have contracted COVID-19 in recent weeks. Other top officials who have contracted the virus include White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, adviser Hope Hicks, adviser Stephen Miller and White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany. 1221
