SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A sudden avalanche Friday buried five guests at a Northern California ski resort, including a San Diego native and his wife.Evan Huck and his wife, Kahlynn, were among the five skiers and boarders rescued after an avalanche buried a portion of Squaw Valley Ski Resort near Lake Tahoe. Huck grew up on Coronado, his parents told 10News, and had recently married Kahlynn.The pair escaped unscathed, though hectic moments caught on video after the incident show the drastic effort to make sure things didn't end worse.10News?live?weather conditionsKahlynn and others were captured afterward frantically digging Huck out of the mountain of snow, whose beard was the only part of him peeking through.  While Huck was reportedly knocked unconscious, he was able to snowboard down the mountain on his own afterward. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- All 289 playgrounds in the city of San Diego will reopen to the public on Saturday, Mayor Kevin Faulconer said Friday.Earlier this week, California health officials issued guidelines that allowed for the safe reopening of outdoor playgrounds in parks, campgrounds and other publicly accessible locations.The county reopened 100 of its playgrounds on Wednesday; the city of Carlsbad reopened its parks on Friday.In a statement, Faulconer said, “We already encourage families and children to recreate outdoors at beaches and parks while taking safety precautions, so there’s no reason why we can’t reopen playgrounds the same safe and responsible way. Along with other local leaders, we urged the Governor to deliver the proper guidance to make this a reality for our parents and children, and now that we can reopen we’ll do it responsibly with safety front and center.”Under the state’s guidelines, playground visitors must abide by these requirements:1. Face masks over the mouth and nose are required for everyone 2 years of age or older with caregiver supervision at all times to ensure face mask use.2. Do not use the playground when different households are unable to maintain a physical distance of 6 feet or when the capacity limit has been reached.3. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A tortoise no longer on the loose is still waiting for its rightful owner in East County.The tortoise, believed to be an older male, was found Thursday by Heartland Paramedics.It was roaming the streets of El Cajon and is now staying at the El Cajon Animal Shelter.Workers there say this is not a situation they often face.“Not in the City of El Cajon," said Shelter Manager Jill Jones. "Perhaps in outer-lying counties, they have a little more tortoise traffic, but we generally do not."A family who saw the original 10News story believed the tortoise was their beloved pet Frankie who went missing a week ago. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A stolen cello worth 0,000 has been reunited with its owner. "I was driving home from downtown and I saw it. It was on C and 7th where the mailbox is at and I thought, well this is really weird. And then I got out and I knew what it was right away, so I took it," said Tony Cozano, who found the instrument. The instrument was returned to its owner, John Walz Monday. Walz is the principal cellist for the Los Angeles Opera and has played on more than 1,500 film scores from Titanic to Indiana Jones, even the new Star Wars films. RELATED: Police searching for person who reportedly stole 0,000 cello"I walked in to the house and just burst into tears. It's in perfect shape. There's no damage to it.
