Two gun shops in Southwest Florida are offering free gun training for teachers in response to the Parkland shooting.A free class at North Fort Myers Guns is designed to educate teachers about guns so they can protect themselves and others.A new state law allows schools districts the option to arm teachers under certain conditions.  They would be required to go through 144 hours of training and an evaluation process with law enforcement.Robert Lewis, the owner of North Fort Myers Guns, said the training he is offering will give teachers a jump start on how to use a gun.Lewis said it's a two-hour class where teachers can learn the basics and then they will go to a local gun range a few days later to practice firing a gun."My trainer takes you out to his private range in North Fort Myers. You will shoot any number of weapons you want. He makes it a true learning experience," Lewis said.The training is normally , but Lewis said he's offering it for free for teachers because he believes arming teachers will help protect kids in school.Two teachers have already signed up for Tuesday's training class. Lewis said depending on how many teachers sign up, he will hold a class at least once a month.Fowler Firearms in Ft. Myers, Florida is offering a similar service.After receiving a local donation, the manager John Dezendorf is offering the first five local certified teachers who sign up a brand new firearm and free platinum memberships.The membership includes free range time and gun rentals for a year.Dezendorf said whether the teachers are required to train through the state or county, his training services will give them the extra practice they need."The number one thing is to keep children safe and the only things to keep kids safe is to have people around them that are able to protect them. U.S. Marshals arrested a man they say paid ,000 to come from Dubai, United Arab Emirates to Florida to have sex with a 7-year-old.William Ball is a music teacher at the Swiss International Scientific School in Dubai, but is from Mississippi.The federal indictment only lists the charges and does not give details about the alleged crime, but during a bond hearing in federal court in Tampa, the prosecutor explained that Hall was using the internet and a cell phone to set up and meet a 7-year-old.The prosecutor said he paid ,000, bought a plane ticket and traveled to meet the child.When he was apprehended, the prosecutor says he had items for a child, condoms and lubricant with him.The prosecutor also said they have extensive internet conversations regarding the case, which is being handled by the Department of Homeland Security.He is being charged with soliciting a minor for sex and child pornography. 923

Two daycare employees have been arrested in Sioux Falls, South Dakota after surveillance video caught them repeatedly abusing young children during nap time, police say.On Friday, Teresa Gallagher, 31, and Kenedi Wendt, 22, were both charged with 25 counts of abuse or cruelty to a minor.The two women were employees at Little Blessings Learning Center.A parent of one of the children who attended the daycare notified police in late February, according to KARE. The case was referred to the Department of Social Services who contacted the daycare. From there, the daycare reviewed the surveillance video and immediately fired Gallagher and Wendt.According to detectives who watched the video, the two were seen slamming the children to the ground, yanking them by their arms and stomping on them.Police spokesperson Sam Clemens said it wasn't clear what was causing the abuse — even a slight movement from a child could set the workers off, reports state. The children in the video are between the ages of 3 and 4. None of the children required medical care, Clemens said.Gallagher and Wendt were arrested on Friday and each placed on a ,000 cash bond. 1209

Hundreds of photographers across the United States are donating their time Wednesday in order to take headshots of 10,000 people who lost their jobs due to COVID-19 and are looking for a new one.“It’s good to know that I’m doing something that made a real difference in a person’s life,” Walker said.The work-based social media site LinkedIn said profiles with professional headshots get 14 times the number of views compared to profiles without a picture.Walker said a good headshot is helpful in any job application.As a people person, he knows people are struggling because of the coronavirus.
