LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say an off-duty Los Angeles County deputy was shot early Sunday morning while he was driving and returned fire at the suspect. The sheriff's deputy's name has not been released. Officials say Sunday he was struck once in a lower extremity and is expected to survive his injuries. Authorities say the suspect remains at large and it’s not known if he was struck by gunfire before he ran away. The other two people in the deputy’s vehicle were not hurt. LOS ANGELES (AP) — California is sending every registered voter a mail-in ballot for the November election, but the state will also establish hundreds of locations for people who want — or need — to vote in-person. The decision to send every voter a mail-in ballot was prompted last month by health concerns tied to the coronavirus. Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom says the state will also have a range of options for in-person voting. Counties must open a minimum of one in-person voting location for every 10,000 voters beginning the Saturday before Election Day.
