DA NANG, Vietnam, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday called for closer cooperation between the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Xi, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, stressed positive publicity that upholds unity, stability and encouragement as a key guideline for the country's publicity and ideology work.
"China and the U.S. can set the example for energy conservation for the whole world - we have the same goals - to develop green energy," Ren said at Friday's opening ceremony, echoing the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Acting Assistant Secretary Daniel Simmons' words in speech that the two countries have "common interest" in this field.
By setting the theme of this year's meetings as "Partnering for Change, Engaging the World", ASEAN is sending signals of joining with its partners and pushing for further regional economic integration.
Xi pointed out that mutually beneficial cooperation is the momentum to drive the China-Japan ties forward, and the two sides should improve the level of pragmatic cooperation in the new situation.
