(KGTV) - A 4.1 magnitude earthquake shook the Lake Tahoe-area town of Truckee, California Thursday.The quake happened at 3:08 p.m. and was five kilometers north-northwest of Dollar Point in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range.People in Sacramento also felt the shaking about 120 miles away, according to the U.S. Geological Survey map.There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries. 419

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top expert on infectious diseases, said Tuesday that he believes that it's "unlikely" that a viable COVID-19 vaccine will be available before the Nov. 3 general election.Fauci's comments contradict those of President Donald Trump, who implied Monday that a vaccine could be ready by October.During a health forum with Research!America, Fauci said that while it's not impossible for a vaccine to be safely granted Emergency Use Authorization within the next two months, he doesn't think one will be made available until the end of the year.Fauci noted that there are three vaccine candidates currently in the midst of the final phase of testing. Two of those candidates — vaccines made by Moderna and Pfizer — both became the first vaccines to begin Phase 3 testing on July 27.Fauci also noted that both trials are about two-thirds of the way enrolled, and expects those trials to be completely filled by the end of the month. (KGTV) -- New video from a nearby business shows the moments before a driver plunged into a sinkhole in El Cajon.The images seeming to tell a different story than was released by El Cajon police earlier in the week.The incident happened late Monday night on Vernon Way and Johnson Avenue. A white car became almost completely submerged in a deep sinkhole after a water main break earlier in the evening. RELATED: Sinkhole forms at El Cajon intersection, swallows car At the time police said the driver, who wasn't injured, ended up there after going around a barricade.Ken Wingert's office has surveillance cameras pointed right at the street where it happened, so out of curiosity, he took a look and says the video paints a different story than the one he first heard. "I saw the video...no that's not true," Wingert told 10News. "The police officer actually went to her window, talked to her and the car pulled a u-turn and went into the sinkhole."After the car goes down, Wingert says the video gets even more interesting. The officers can be seen walking over, but it's how they did it that has him confused.  "Why were the police not reacting so fast once the car went into the pothole? All of a sudden when the car started sinking more everybody started running towards it," he said. "To me that was a little slow on that part."On Thursday 10News made multiple attempts to talk to El Cajon police about the video. We were told that there was no one available to comment. 1537

(KGTV) - As 10News explores Life in El Cajon, we’re examining the rich history of a city that started with “gold in them thar hills.” The name means “the box” or drawer in Spanish, referring to the way the valley is boxed in by the mountains in East County. A structure that survived El Cajon’s long history is the Knox Hotel, which opened in 1876 to house people drawn to Julian during the Gold Rush. “The people who came here were not poor, they came and they could build lovely houses and buildings like this,” said Eldonna Lay, curator of the Knox House Museum. In 1889, the railroad arrived and the town began to thrive. El Cajon was incorporated in 1912, bringing advancements like street lights and cement sidewalks. El Cajon’s main attractions were citrus and chicken farming and a warm climate for people suffering from tuberculosis. Gillespie Field played a big role in World War II. It was then known as “Camp Gillespie.” “All of the planes were being made in San Diego but they were out in what became our airfield,” said Lay. In 1947, the Mother Goose Parade was a gift to children from local businesses. In 1961, Interstate 8 opened and businesses started booming. Dozens of people are gathering outside of the TCF Center in Downtown Detroit, trying to get inside to challenge votes which are being counted.People outside of the center say they are not being let in to challenge the votes. The Detroit Health Department said TCF Center is at capacity and that's what police are enforcing.Republicans are hoping to challenge the vote and claimed they were unfairly being kept outside where the absentee ballots are being counted.
