As the world waits for deliveries of Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine, the pharmaceutical company is having to adjust their target after hitting supply chain obstacles, according to the Wall Street Journal.“Scaling up the raw material supply chain took longer than expected,” a company spokeswoman told the WSJ.Pfizer and partner BioNTech SE had hoped to ship out 100 million doses of their vaccine by the end of the year, that has now reportedly been cut to estimates of about 50 million. Two doses are needed for each person to be vaccinated.Pfizer did not elaborate on where the raw material shortfalls happened. They did say some raw materials in early production earlier this year did not meet their standards and they had to fix the issue. After the WSJ’s report, Pfizer’s stock price dropped and the S&P 500 fell slightly. The United Kingdom has granted emergency use of the Pfizer vaccine, and is expected to start administering doses soon. The FDA in the U.S. is considering a similar authorization, which could come later in December. As part of Operation Warp Speed, the U.S. Government has purchased 100 million doses of Pfizer’s vaccine, with an option to buy more.Roughly 20 million of those doses were expected by the end of the year once the FDA granted emergency use authorization. No word on how Pfizer’s shipping delays could impact this number.Pfizer says their production lines in the U.S. and Europe are complete and they are “confident” they will supply the targeted number of doses in early 2021. 1524

At this extremely difficult time we would like to express our gratitude to all of those who have reached out to our family following the tragic loss of Alanna, June and Ruby. They were all loved dearly by their family and friends, and they will be greatly missed. We are broken-hearted by their loss but sustained by our faith. We believe in a loving Heavenly Father who comforts his children in the midst of their most painful trials. We are steadfast and confident in knowing that our family will be reunited in the life to come. We thank the police, other first responders, friends, family and the media for their kind words about these wonderful girls and their mother. We trust you will allow us private time to mourn. 731

BALTIMORE - A woman and man are dead and at least seven other people are seriously hurt after a gas explosion caused three homes to collapse Monday morning in Northwest Baltimore. As rescue crews and K-9's continued combing through the rubble overnight, a man's body was discovered just before 1 a.m. Tuesday. He is the second reported death related to the incident.A family member on Tuesday afternoon confirmed to WMAR-2 News, that the man found was 20-year-old Morgan State student Joseph Graham.Authorities haven't officially released the names of any of the victims. The explosion happened just before 10 a.m. near the Plaza in the area of Labyrinth and Reisterstown Roads, prompting a three-alarm response from 200 rescue crews from multiple cities and surrounding county agencies.About 200 people were impacted, including 30 who needed temporary housing. The American Red Cross is helping them with food, shelter, transportation, and medical services, while the city works to make sure the homes still standing are structurally sound.PHOTO GALLERY: DEADLY EXPLOSION TURNS NW BALTIMORE HOMES INTO RUBBLEBGE was able to turn gas off in the area by 9 p.m. Monday.Meanwhile, some electric lines were damaged causing power outages, but they've since been repaired with all power having been restored in the neighborhood.Investigators are looking into whether any customer-owned home utility appliances potentially contributed to the explosion. So far BGE says they've been unable to find any leaks or problems with gas mains and meters in the area.Prior to the explosion, BGE said they received no reports of gas odors or leaks at any of the homes in the last five years. The area’s gas infrastructure was installed in the early 1960s and was last inspected in July of 2019.Maryland's Vital Records building was forced to close for the rest of the day, following the explosion.WMAR-2 News spoke with two witnesses who explained what they heard and saw, and how they rushed to help. Governor Larry Hogan tweeted that he's been debriefed on the situation and said his office is grateful to the first responders at the scene. As Vietnam veterans grow older, the National Park Service said it has seen an increase in people leaving remains at the Veteran's Memorial Wall in Washington D.C., so it has now put up signs asking people to stop.Nancy Skinner wanted to honor her fiance Ron Looney after he died in 2008. When he died, Skinner had him cremated.Other than Looney's remains, photos were one of the few things she had left of Looney. The snapshots capture the motorcycle trips the couple took around the country, family get-togethers, and even Looney’s time in the Vietnam War.“He was over there five times,” recalled Skinner.Soon after his death, she took some of Looney's ashes and set out on one last adventure with him. “I went ahead and got what I thought would probably be the right amount if you cremated his heart, the right amount size,” said Skinner. She packed the ashes in a wooden box and drove from Mississippi to Washington, D.C., to leave Looney's cremains at the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall.“It was something he so wanted to do, so wanted to be there. I knew that was something he would have wanted,” said Skinner. The National Park Service said Looney’s cremains are one of about 70 that have now been left at the wall over the years.“A lot of Vietnam veterans feel very connected to the memorial. It speaks to them in a way a lot of other places in the country don't,” said Janet Folkerts, a curator with the Park Service. “Cremains are kind of definitely more sensitive and something that needs a higher standard of care than we're really equipped to deal with here,” said Folkerts. The cremains left at the wall are currently brought to a Park Service building and kept in a metal storage cabinet. But Folkerts said the Park Service is looking into new options.“We’re hoping some veterans cemetery could help us with the cremains we already have and we could setup some system in the future,” she said. While Skinner said she understands the Park Service’s concerns, she hinted she would still have found a way to honor Looney’s wishes.“I made it a pretty little box. And I didn't figure anybody would mind. Makes me wonder if I need to go back and pick him up. But his ashes are still gonna stay there. Sorry," Skinne said.  2274

Attorney General Bill Barr has accepted an invitation to appear before the House Judiciary Committee on July 28, according to a statement from Kerri Kupec, the Director of Communications at Justice Department. The House Judiciary Committee has been conducting oversight hearings regarding potential political interference from Trump administration officials in certain cases connected to Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.Several media outlets reported this week that Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-New York, had been considering issuing a subpoena to Barr to force his testimony.House Democrats on the Judiciary Committee claim that Barr has intervened on President Donald Trump's behalf in numerous instances since he replaced Jeff Sessions as AG in February 2019.Over the weekend, Barr announced that Geoffrey Berman — who had been investigating Trump's financials in is role as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York — had resigned. Berman quickly refuted the claim, saying he had learned of his "resignation" in the media. Barr later announced that he had fired Berman, and Berman only agreed to step aside when he was assured that his hand-pick successor could continue investigating unimpeded for the time being. 1260
