ESPN The Magazine is celebrating its 20th anniversary by releasing lists of the best teams and athletes of the last 20 years. Needless to say, there isn't a lot of San Diego on the list -- with the exception of a No. 4 ranking for NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson on the "Most Dominant Athletes" list. As it happens, my career in San Diego sports media began in 1998, so I thought I'd take it upon myself to come up with a list of the best San Diego teams of the past 20 years. Unlike ESPN, which came up with complicated metrics to determine their lists, mine is completely subjective. Feel free to tweet me your complaints at @BenHigginsSD. 683
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are investigating after a man was stabbed in East Village Wednesday night. The 26-year-old was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene and hasn’t been located, police say. Women across the country are receiving cards from a "Jenny B" congratulating them on their pregnancy, packed with gift cards to various motherhood related websites. Here's the weird part: many of the women aren't pregnant, and it seems that none of them know this "Jenny B" from Utah.Ohio woman Jane Dulaney thought her sister from San Diego may have sent her a belated birthday card, but instead, was shocked to see a card that read "Holy guacamole! You're going to avo baby!" 489
Canada legalized recreational pot this week and its dispensaries weren't the only ones with a business plan. A Girl Scouts Brownie -- and budding entrepreneur -- knew exactly where her best sales would come from.Elina Childs, 9, stood outside an Edmonton dispensary Wednesday and sold all her cookies to those enduring 4-hour lines during the country's first day of legal marijuana sales. In the past, Elina has sold her cookies door-to-door and that took weeks, her dad said."Last year, she got bit by a dog, it wasn't bad but we were still apprehensive," dad Sean Childs told CNN."While driving, we saw how long the lines were at the dispensary, and we just stopped to sell the cookies there."Elina sold out her stock in just 45 minutes, making a total of 0 (US )."She didn't quite understand what the big deal was," Childs said. "She was just selling cookies in her mind, but everyone was so happy to see her, and kept congratulating her."Weed has been legal only since Wednesday and Elina isn't the only one who cashed in on the munchies. The marijuana demand has been so high that several licensed cannabis retailers around the country have completely run out of pot,?reported CNN partner CBC. 1216
