BEIJING, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- This year marks the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and World War II. Celebrations including a military parade will be held in Beijing on Sept. 2 and 3. It will be the first time the country has held a parade to commemorate the victory.

President Xi Jinping will speak at the parade and present medals to veterans or their family members. Some overseas countries will send representatives to take part in the event for the first time.
