BERLIN (AP) — Holocaust survivors are lending their voices to a campaign targeting Facebook head Mark Zuckerberg, urging him to take action to remove denial of the Nazi genocide from the social media site. Coordinated by the New York-based Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, the #NoDenyingIt campaign launched Wednesday uses Facebook itself to make the survivors’ entreaties to Zuckerberg heard with one video per day being posted urging him to remove Holocaust denying groups, pages and posts as hate speech. Facebook says it already takes down Holocaust denial posts in countries where it is illegal and elsewhere removes “any post that celebrates, defends, or attempts to justify the Holocaust.” 725

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – This holiday shopping season is expected to be like no other, because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, so retailers will need to adjust accordingly.Wednesday, Walmart announced its plans for how it intends to meet the changing needs of customers in the coming months.Specifically, the retail giant plans to address these areas: earlier holiday shopping deals, increased online shopping, evolving wish lists, and the need for safe shopping experiences.Expanded Black Friday dealsWalmart is promising an “all-new Black Friday experience,” with deals being offered earlier. The retailer says it will spread the traditional Black Friday savings throughout the season and will have more deals available online.“We’ve heard from our customers that many plan on starting their holiday shopping well before Black Friday and that they’re looking for gifts that fit their current lifestyle,” said Scott McCall, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer for Walmart U.S. “So, we’ve adjusted our strategy to adapt to these new shopping preferences – we’re offering more of what they want now, earlier than ever, and all at the best prices.”No additional details were provided about the Black Friday expansion, but the store said it will share more soon.Seasonal hiring to meet online demandWith many Americans expected to do much of their shopping online this year, Walmart says it will hire more than 20,000 seasonal associates in its eCommerce fulfillment centers across the country. Interest applicants can click here to apply. There are a variety of open positions, including order fillers and power equipment operators, that begin at a starting hourly rate ranging from .75 up to .75 based on location, position and schedule. In many instances, Walmart says these positions will have the opportunity to convert to regular employment.“The holidays are always a special time, and this year, we think the season will mean even more to our customers. As more of them turn to online shopping, we want to ensure we’re staffed and ready to help deliver that special gift to their loved ones while continuing to fulfill our customer’s everyday needs,” said Greg Smith, executive vice president for supply chain for Walmart U.S.Increasing availability of ‘new normal’ giftsWalmart says it’s increasing the availability of unexpected holiday gifts that reflect lifestyles in this “new normal,” including athleisure, loungewear and sleepwear for the family, outdoor grills, bicycles and exercise equipment and outdoor sporting equipment. The retailer says it has also increased inventory in electronics, with a focus on TVs, laptops and video games, as well as kitchen appliances. As for the kids, Walmart says it will have over 1,300 new toys, including puzzles, games, Legos and more than 800 Walmart-exclusives this holiday season.Changes made for safer shopping amid pandemicLike many stores, Walmart has taken several steps to help protect customers and its employees from contracting the coronavirus. BOCA RATON, Fla. - A young girl with a big heart and a love of music recently started a charity event to raise money in the fight against Parkinson's disease.Music has been a part of 11-year-old Kasey Moore's life since she picked up a violin at the age of three."I enjoyed it more and more as I grew older," Kasey said. Now, she is practicing playing the piano every day."When I practice, some part inside of me gets alive," Kasey said.Because of the pandemic, she's been able to dedicate more time to her musical passion while at home with her family. Her father, Dr. Henry Moore, is a neurologist at the University of Miami who specializes in movement disorders like Parkinson's disease."He helps people that suffer from this terrible disease called Parkinson's, and this disease affects their brain," Kasey said. Facebook, WPTV An 11-year-old Boca Raton girl used her time during the pandemic to start a fundraiser to help benefit the Parkinson Foundation. Moore has been spending more time working from his home office, which gave Kasey a chance to feed her curiosity while her dad cared for patients."She was very moved by people, how they were very disabled, and then with the medication, they were super happy and so hopeful that this disease will stop," Moore said."It really touched my heart, and I wanted to do something to help, but I wasn't sure how," Kasey said. She decided to do her part to fight Parkinson's disease by creating a fundraiser called "Parkin-Song." WPTV Kasey Moore's love of music started at an early age, and she continues to play the piano regularly. The goal is to use music to raise money and awareness on behalf of the Parkinson's Foundation."The way we always have raised her is to think first [about] others, and that will give you happiness," said Kasey's mother.Kasey's music and kind heart quickly got the attention of some big names, including Gloria Estefan. Her father said she's onto something with the healing power of music."There is music therapy even tested for Parkinson's disease patients, and it helps a lot. Music goes deep into the brain and is able to awaken certain areas of the brain that the patient needs," said Moore.Despite the ongoing search for a cure, Kasey said she hopes Parkinson's patients listening to "Parkin-Song" still take something away from the music."I hope they get a little more cheerful and just a little happier," Kasey said.Click here to learn more about Kasey and "Parkin-Song."Chris Gilmore with WPTV in West Palm Beach, Florida, first reported this story. 2628
