BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao and other top leaders watched a large-scale musical epic on Monday recounting the country's road from the Opium War in 1840 to 2009, together with people from all walks of life in Beijing.     The nearly three-hour musical "Road to Revival", in dedication to the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC), was staged at the Great Hall of the People. MACAO, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Macao Special Administrative Region(SAR) Legislative Election General Auditing Committee announced the official results of the election of the fourth Legislative Assembly of Macao on Tuesday night.     In line with the Basic Law, the new legislature is composed of 29 seats including 12 directly-elected seats, 10 indirectly-elected seats, and seven others which will be appointed by the SAR's chief executive.     A total of 122 candidates from 16 groups contested in the direct elections, while the indirect elections did not take place since only 10 candidates have been fielded by the four constituencies involved for the 10 seats.     Eight of the 12 candidates who won the direct elections were veteran lawmakers that have served their terms in the legislature, which includes Kwan Tsui Hang, Chan Meng Kam, Ng Kuok Cheong, Angela Leong On Kei, Jose Maria Pereira Coutinho, Lee Chong Cheng, Ung Choi Kun, and Au Kam San were the winners of the direct elections, while Ho Ion Sang, Mak Soi Kun, Chan Wai Chi and Melinda Chan Mei Yi become the new faces in the legislature.     For the part of indirect elections, the list of winners comprises Ho Iat Seng, Kou Hoi In, Fong Chi Keong, and Cheang Chi Keong of the industrial, commercial and financial sector; Lau Cheok Va, Lam Heong Sang of labor sector; Chui Sai Cheong and Leonel Alberto Alves of professional sector; Vitor Cheung Lup Kwan and Chan Chak Mo of social, cultural, educational and sports sector.     The election of the fourth term of the Legislative Assembly of the Macao SAR officially started Sunday morning. The authorities delayed announcing the results of the legislative election because6,539 ballots were found to be spoiled, the SAR's Legislative Election Affairs committee said Monday.     Some 149,006 of the total 249,886 registered voters cast their ballots during the polling period, but 6,539 of these ballots were deemed as invalid, according to the SAR's Legislative Election Affairs Committee.     This year's voter turnout stood at 59.9 percent, compared with 58.39 percent in the previous legislative election in 2005.     The results of the legislative election still need to be submitted to the SAR's Court for final approval, and the confirmed results will be published on the SAR's Official Gazette on Sept. 30 at the latest.

SHANGHAI, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Baosteel Group, China's largest steel maker, said Friday it has agreed to pay 285.6 million Australian dollars (240.7 million U.S. dollars) for a 15-percent stake in Australian miner Aquila Resources.     Baosteel will buy up to 43.95 million shares in Aquila at 6.5 Australian dollars a share.     The deal, which will make Baosteel the second-biggest shareholder in Aquila, is still to get approval from Australian and Chinese regulators.     The company executives valued the growth potential of Aquila's assets in the deal that is another major step in its overseas expansion, said a statement on Baosteel's website.     Baosteel established a joint venture with iron ore giant Rio Tinto in 2001 and Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD) in 2002 to secure iron ore imports.     In a press release, Aquila said the deal was "an important transaction in Baosteel's strategy to secure long-term supply of critical steel raw materials."     The strategic cooperation will "fast-track the development of Aquila's key steel raw materials projects including iron ore, coal, and manganese," said the statement.     Baosteel would possibly make further direct investment into a number of its projects and help it get low-cost financing from China for most of its major projects, including the strategic West Pilbara Iron Ore Project, said the Aquila statement.     It added that the state-owned Chinese steel mill had agreed not to hold more than 19.99 percent of Aquila before August 2010.     Shares in Aquila surged 9.16 percent, or 60 Australian cents, to 7.15 Australian dollars Friday.

MOSCOW, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese merchants will be allowed to retrieve their goods in a closed Moscow market, the head of a Chinese coordination group said on Thursday.     A Chinese coordination group on Thursday discussed with Moscow's consumer department the clearing up of Chinese merchants' stalls in the Cherkizovsky market as well as the transferring of their goods.     The Russian side agreed to take further steps to safeguard the market's order and to work with the Chinese side to crack down on the illegal activities, said Cai Guiru, head of the temporary Chinese coordination group and chairperson of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Russia.     It is agreed that Chinese merchants will be allowed to clean up their stalls and ship out their merchandise during a specific period of time every day, Cai said.     The Russian side took "sincere and earnest" attitudes towards the handling of the market closure, in the hope that most of the Chinese merchants will be able to retrieve their goods safely, she said.     This meeting is helpful and the Russian side heard positive opinions from Chinese vendors, said Georgy Smoleyevcky, first deputy head of the Moscow Consumer Market and Services Department.     The Russian side will make conclusions accordingly and give instructions to relevant departments, he said, expressing the hope that complaints from Chinese traders will be less and less in future.     The official also dismissed the speculation that a Chinese shopping mall will be built in the place of the closed Cherkizovsky, Russia's biggest wholesale market.     The coordination group, formed under the auspices of the Chinese embassy in Russia in July, involves heads of China's provincial chambers of commerce.     Russian police abruptly shut down the nearly 300-hectare market in northeastern Moscow on June 29, after the disclosure of various illegal and irregular operations in the market by the Russian Federal Supervision Service for Consumer Rights Protection and People Welfare.     A Chinese senior delegation, led by Vice Minister of Commerce Gao Hucheng, reached broad consensus with the Russian side on the closure issue.
