TORONTO, Canada, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao visited an aircraft manufacturing facility on Saturday morning, in a gesture to show that China attaches importance to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with Canada.Bombardier, a Canada-based global manufacturer of planes and trains, has cooperation projects with China in the areas of civil aviation and rail transportation.It has been working with the Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (SAC) of China to jointly develop and manufacture the innovative C series of airplanes.Hu toured the factory to have a close look at the components of the Q400 aircraft, which was partly manufactured in Shenyang. BEIJING, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Donations to the Yushu quake zone in northwest China's Qinghai Province have exceeded 8.7 billion yuan (about 1.28 billion U.S. dollars) as of Monday noon, with about 7.9 billion yuan in cash and the remaining in relief materials, according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs.In a statement, the ministry said it had received 2.417 billion yuan and the Qinghai provincial government received over 2 billion yuan in donations, while the Red Cross Society of China and the China Charity Federation had each raised about 2 billion yuan.Nearly 2,700 people died after the 7.1-magnitude earthquake hit Qinghai's Yushu prefecture on April 14.

The No. 29 Nationalists Corps fought hard to resist the siege, marking the official start of an eight-year resistance war.The Chinese resistance played a decisive role in inflicting heavy casualties on the Japanese. The Chinese people paid dearly for the victory, with an estimated 35 million casualties, including military and civilian, dead and wounded.The memorial has received more than 15 million visitors since it opened in 1987, said Li Zongyuan, deputy curator of the memorial hall.
