A company is promising to pay San Diegans cash for cutting their energy use when demand is at its peak.The payouts can add to hundreds of dollars per year.But getting that cash means following some very specific instructions, and isn't as simple as turning off your air conditioning. The company is called OhmConnect, which has a contract with San Diego Gas & Electric.San Diegans who sign up let OhmConnect tap into their smart meters. They will then get a text message alerting them to a specific hour when they should cut their energy use - turn off air conditioning, lights, chargers, surge protectors, and avoid opening the fridge and freezer. OhmConnect suggests people do something outside during that time. "Everyone is looking to save a buck, so I was like why not, times are tough?" said Patrick Copley, of Serra Mesa, who signed up Monday. Curtis Tongue, a spokesman for OhmConnect, said the company has ramped up its advertising over the past few months. He said OhmConnect sells the reduced energy use to SDG&E, takes a cut, and passes on the rest to the participant in terms of points. Each point is worth a penny, and can be cashed out to Paypal once a person reaches 1,000 points, worth . OhmConnect says a person who participates two to three times a week can earn between 0 and 0 over a year. An SDG&E spokesman noted that customers are still responsible for paying their bill. A doctor was shot and killed in the parking lot of Affinity Medical Center in Massillon, Ohio on Monday afternoon and then the gunman turned the gun on himself, according to Massillon police. The gunman, Michael Wood, died from the self-inflicted injuries in the parking lot, police said.  322

A Cleveland family is hoping social media will help them locate the donor who provided bone marrow to treat their 2-year-old daughter’s cancer last October. Doctors say this anonymous donor could be the key to treating their daughter’s cancer relapse.G.I. and Annie Zaratsian’s daughter Viv is living a normal 2-year-old’s life – at home, enjoying time with her sisters. She was diagnosed with Acute Megakaryoblastic Leukemia on July 20, 2017, at just 18 months old, according to a Facebook post from her mother. Over the next five months, Viv was hospitalized, faced multiple challenging complications, and received a bone marrow transplant from an anonymous donor. One year after her diagnosis, she was in remission.Then, during a recent routine biopsy, Viv’s family learned that she is beginning to relapse, and her cancer is returning, her father said in a Facebook post on Tuesday. The biopsy revealed that 0.2 percent of her cancer cells are back.The family is working with doctors at the Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland to develop a plan to get Viv back into remission and fully healthy again, and to capitalize on the fact that her cancer numbers are still low, her father said.One of the potential treatments Viv’s doctors would like to administer is a process called Donor Lymphocyte Infusion, or DLI. It requires some of the blood to be extracted from her bone marrow donor and then infused into Viv, her father explained.Unfortunately, the donor registry team is unable to make contact with her bone marrow donor and the family is not legally allowed to receive information about who the donor is due to privacy and confidentiality regulations.The family posted all this on Facebook with the hope that it would be shared, and that the anonymous donor would come forward to donate his blood and get Viv the treatment she needs.The family knows the donor is a young male, likely 20 to 30 years old, and he does not live in the United States. A man used electronic purchase alerts from his bank on a credit card he never received, to track down an alleged crook within hours.In the early morning hours of June 21, Josh Blair noticed an alert on his Apple watch confirming a purchase he made at a nearby gas station.But Blair told KSBY he didn't spend at the gas station and, in fact, Blair said he never even received the new American Express card in the mail the purchase was made on.He decided to find out who was using his new credit card around Santa Barbara.Surveillance footage from Blair's apartment complex shows a man unlock the mailbox and withdraw the envelope containing Blair's credit card.After speaking with officials at the post office, Blair said he learned the key to the boxes was lost and the lock had not yet been replaced.Throughout the morning, a series of charges hit Blair's account, all within miles of his home. So after filing a police report, he decided to track the crook himself."I talked to a friend earlier and he said 'OK, be careful.' And I said 'I guarantee I catch him within 24 hours,'" Blair recounted. "It was actually two hours from that time, I remember. I didn't spend much time thinking about what would happen."Throughout the afternoon, Blair raced from business to business as charges appeared on his card, each time, just missing the thief.Then, Blair got a charge alert from the newly opened hotel and restaurant, so he rushed over and spoke to the bartender."He was like 'yea, I'm sure that guy was just here, he just left the bar. I believe he's staying here, let me go check,'" Blair recalled. "He did that then came back and said the guy just ran out in the parking lot. He told me where, so I ran after him and so did the bartender, he helped me out. A Los Angeles coroner says rapper Mac Miller died from a mixture of some pretty heavy drugs. The rapper died two months ago and his autopsy shows the combination of fentanyl, cocaine and alcohol is what killed him.Miller was 26 years old and a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
