(KGTV) -- Parents at Eastlake High School are asking the Sweetwater Union High School District board to investigate a math teacher that students accuse of making inappropriate comments. The parents say the issue started last spring when the teacher made comments about erectile dysfunction in class. Other parents say the teacher hardly teaches, forcing their kids to fall behind. Dan Huslin, a parent of an Eastlake High sophomore, said the school's principal told him last year the teacher was suspended, but this year he found out he's back in the classroom. Huslin said when he asked about why he returned, the current principal told him the district was providing the teacher counseling to help him improve. On Monday night, parents spoke at a Sweetwater district meeting and asked the board to investigate and remove the teacher. Also, parents asked the district to provide math tutoring for the students who are now behind. A district spokesperson told 10News the teacher was not suspended last year and was instead out for personal reasons, adding that they couldn't comment on whether the teacher is receiving any counseling because it is a personnel matter. CHULA VISTA (KGTV) -- The South Bay community is mourning the sudden loss of a beloved Olympian High School teacher.Vanessa Sholty’s family said she suffered a stroke on Friday and passed away Sunday. She was only 39-years-old.Sholty’s sister, Rebecca Webb, spoke about her love for teaching dance and her love for children. “She’s been dancing for her whole life. She loves to dance and teach the kids to dance,” Webb said.Sholty taught dance and physical education at Olympian High School in Chula Vista. With distance learning and COVID-19 protocols, Sholty — like the other teachers — made adjustments.“She set up her whole living room like a dance studio,” Webb said.Sholty leaves behind her husband and two young children. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family with costs.“We were not prepared for any of this,” Sholty said. “I walk into her house and I see all her school stuff still there because she had she was working that day… it's just some major shock for us all.”Webb said support from the community, including messages from students and fellow staff members, is helping them keep strong.“Her passing has deeply affected us all,” said a post on the Olympian High School Facebook page. “We have grief counselors available for anyone wishing to talk about this tragic event. CHULA VISTA (KGTV) -- A frightening scene for any family to witness was captured on video just before Valentine’s Day outside an East Chula Vista gas station. A clip posted to Facebook shows a man screaming racial obscenities at a female customer while the woman he’s with calmly pumps gas into their car.The incident reportedly happened at the Shell gas station at the Village Marketplace in the Eastlake neighborhood of Chula Vista at around 4 p.m., according to the victim.In a Facebook video post, the victim wrote that the man had approached her car and began shouting vulgarities then returned to his car. “No there is nothing done prior to this on my part. No there was nothing wrong that I knew of. No, there was no history," the victim wrote in the Facebook video post."No, I've never seen this couple before. No, there were no words exchanged between us, no eye contact, he just began to spew hateful commentary when he saw me get out to pump," the victim said.Sensing that something may happen, the victim used her cellphone to record the encounter, and that's when the man approached her again.The video shows a man with face and arm tattoos jumping out of the passenger seat of a light colored Nissan Versa hatchback. He approaches the victim’s car while flashing both middle fingers and screaming, “F*** n*****s!”The man then walked up to the victim’s vehicle and spit on the windshield.10News is not identifying the victim for her own protection.According to the victim, the couple drove away after the woman finished pumping gas.“I am beyond grateful that he, for some reason, changed his mind and did not spit on me or put his hands on me,” the victim said.The woman called Chula Vista Police about five hours after the confrontation at the gas station, according to Chula Vista Police Department Captain Phil Collum. Officers took information from the woman and followed up with her Friday to gather more information and documentation, Collum said. They will evaluate the evidence to see if it amounts to a criminal offense. Collum said police do not know the identity of the man seen in the video. “This is highly unusual,” said Collum. (KGTV) – A 13-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after police said he was driving a SUV that rolled over at a Chula Vista rock quarry.Police said the incident happened at around 2 a.m. Wednesday in an area off Hard Rock Road, near Heritage Road.According to police, an SUV driven by the teen crashed through a gate at a rock quarry and then rolled over. Witnesses reported seeing several juveniles get out of the wreckage and run away from the scene.The 13-year-old driver remained with the SUV and was questioned by police before being transported to the hospital. It is unknown if the teen suffered any serious injuries.ABC 10News learned police launched a drone to search for the passengers but could not locate them.Police are trying to determine who owns the SUV, how the teen ended up behind the wheel, and if the vehicle was stolen. 871

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- The FBI and Chula Vista Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man suspected of robbing six credit unions in San Diego County. The suspect, who was dubbed the "Gloved Robber" after wearing grey gloves during all of the heists, has so far robbed six credit unions. The robberies have all taken place between December 28, 2018 and February 23, 2019. According to the FBI, after entering each of the businesses, the suspect approached the tellers, handing them a note demanding cash. The FBI says the man wore a similar style of clothing in several of the robberies. Along with the grey gloves, the man wore sunglasses and hoods to cover his face. During two of the robberies, the man carried a motorcycle helmet into the credit unions. The robber also carried a calculator in his hand and held it to his ear like a cellphone during several of the robberies.
