There are 725 days until the 2020 presidential election.  “I know people think it's a long way out, but the reality is the Iowa caucuses are likely to be 15 months from now, if not sooner,” says Dr. Lara Brown, the director of the Graduate School of Political Management at George Washington University.Iowa is key. Several high-profile Democrats have already visited the state recently, and experts say it won't be long until some of them officially throw their hat in the ring.“I would imagine we're going to have some candidates announcing their runs either at the end of this year, so the end of December, or in the first two months of 2019,” says Brown.Brown published a book on presidential nominations and elections called “Jockeying for the American Presidency: The Political Opportunism of Aspirants.”Brown says Democrats can expect a crowded field, just like the Republicans had in 2016.While no one has officially announced a party candidate, a list of potential candidates has been building for months.“We're going to have a lot of different Democrats from a lot of different regions, trying to make the argument they're really the one to lead the party and bring the White House back to the Democrats.”While it's rare that an incumbent president loses a re-election campaign, Brown says President Trump is vulnerable.“It’s evident after the 2018 elections that the Republican party's base is shrinking,” she says. “They are not appealing to as many people as they used to. Top USA Swimming officials are under fire for what critics say was a culture of sexual abuse that was allowed to persist for decades unchecked.A stunning new investigative report first published in the Orange County Register found that since 1997, more than 250 coaches and officials were either arrested, charged or disciplined by USA Swimming for sexual abuse or misconduct.The paper -- citing, documents, interviews with abuse survivors, former Olympians, USA Swimming officials and others -- claims that there are at least 590 victims. According to the report, the organization's top brass was aware of the problem, but did little, if anything, to stop it.  674

There is an uncertainty to what you could find in “Big Sky Country.”That is a quality that has always driven Joseph Haas’ guide and outfitting business, A Lazy H Outfitters. But this year has brought a kind of uncertainty, unique to anything he’s faced before."By February, it just cratered to almost zero at all in terms of requests for even any information at all," Haas said. “It was, it was scary.”This time of year, people travel from all over to have Haas lead them on multi-day horseback tours through the Montana wilderness, usually."We have very few customers from the east or west coast, California in particular, we are seeing almost nothing from California," Haas said.Haas' business is located in Choteau, Montana, a town with a population of about 1,700 people. Summer is usually the busy season in the community, which located along the shortest route between Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park.“I would think that we’ve probably had at least 95% of the events we had booked canceled and reservation-wise," said Barb Bouma, who owns the Stage Stop Inn in Choteau.The American Hotel and Lodging Association says hotel occupancy levels might not recover until 2022 nationwide. Bouma doesn’t know if her hotel will make it that far.“It’s not sustaining itself. How long we can go, yeah I’m not sure," Bouma said.Like many business owners in the pandemic, Haas has had to cut back."Right now, I have one person. They are all the rage right now, they help you find your family's history. "We've always wondered about the validity of my dad's side of the family and their claims about where we're from."Elizabeth Makos is as curious as we all are. "So we think we are half Italian, quarter Czechoslovakian and a quarter polish."She agreed to help put these DNA tests, to the test. Makos gave saliva samples three times, one for Ancestry DNA, 23 and Me and MyHeritage. We sealed them up and sent them off and waited about 6 weeks.We got her results back and here's what Makos thought of them."It's shocking. It is really shocking. I can't imagine what technology they employ to get these results," she said.It's shocking because her results were all over the place. When it comes to Eastern Europe, Ancestry said she was 49 percent Eastern European, but 23 and me and MyHeritage only put the percentage in the high 20s. "When we look at it for example, it says the Balkans here… one says 34 percent and one says 18 percent. A bit of a discrepancy there."Makos thought for sure she is 50 percent Italian. 23 and me and MyHeritage says she's closer to 30 percent. She even had some North African DNA."I would love to know," Makos said about having North African DNA. "I know I get really tan in the summer but I didn't know I got that tan… who knows."The companies don't claim to be perfectly accurate, and use different algorithms.
