An officer has been dismissed following the shooting of an unarmed Black man in Columbus, Ohio, on Tuesday.Columbus Police said that the man was 47 years old, and that the man was holding a cell phone at the time of his death, based on a review of one of the responding officer's body-worn camera footage. Police said the man walked toward the officer with a cell phone in his left hand while his right hand was not visible. Officers were called to the area for a report of a man sitting in an SUV, continually turning on and off the vehicle. Officials have not released the name of the person killed, as of Tuesday afternoon. WCMH-TV reported that the officer who fired the fatal shot was Adam Coy, an 18-year veteran of the Columbus Police. According to the Columbus Dispatch, Coy was involved in an excessive force complaint that resulted in the City of Columbus paying a ,000 payout. Coy was suspended for 160 hours for the 2012 incident, but kept his job. The shooting was the second time a citizen was killed by law enforcement within the city. Three weeks ago, Casey Goodson Jr. was shot and killed by Franklin County Sheriff Deputy Jason Meade. Authorities said that investigators recovered a weapon on the scene, but a family attorney told CNN that Goodson was holding a sandwich at the time of the shooting. No charges have been filed in that case, and investigation is still ongoing.“We are still raw from the killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and less than 3 weeks ago, Casey Goodson Jr. Early this morning we learned of the killing of another African American at the hands of law enforcement,” Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther said in a news conference on Tuesday.During the shooting death of Goodson, deputies were not wearing body-worn cameras. During Tuesday’s shooting, Ginther said that officers did not turn on their body-worn cameras until after the shooting occurred.Ginther said that the body-worn cameras worn by Columbus Police have a 60-second “lookback” feature that captured video of the shooting. The lookback feature does not capture the audio."The Division invested millions of dollars in these cameras for the express purpose of creating a video and audio record of these kinds of encounters. They provide transparency and accountability, and protect the public, as well as officers, when the facts are in question," Police Chief Thomas Quinlan said. WBNS reported that the cruiser’s dash camera was not activated as police were responding to a non-emergency call that did not require lights and sirens.“Our community is exhausted,” Ginther added. “While it is very early in the investigation, there is one fact that disturbs me greatly. The officer involved did not turn on their body-worn camera until after the shooting.”Ginther said that the officer’s badge and gun has been turned in, but would continue getting paid during the investigation due to contractual obligations.The family of the man killed on Tuesday will be shown the body-worn camera footage before it is released to the public. Anita Hall, along with the Hollywood Commission, will launch a new anonymous reporting platform next year to hold serial harassers in the movie industry accountable.Hill, who made history in October 1991 when she testified before Congress about the alleged sexual harassment she experienced when she was an aide by then-Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.Twenty-nine years later, Hill is still finding ways to address the abuse and harassment women still face today.The Hollywood Commission, founded by entertainment lawyer Nina Shaw and Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy and Hill chairs, recently spearheaded a survey that found survivors want to track harassment and abuse in the workplace.According to the survey, 93% of the 9,630 anonymous current and former workers in Hollywood said they wanted "technology for victims to create a time-stamped record" that would track harassment and abuse in the workplace.After its findings, the commission announced in September that by the first quarter of 2021, they would launch a cross-industry anonymous reporting platform that would help identify abusers.The platform would also allow users to ask questions or raise concerns through a two-way anonymous messaging system."For too long in Hollywood, there have been 'open secrets' about the harassment perpetrated on workers by powerful people who are able to successfully evade accountability for their actions," said Hill in the press release. "With this survey, we have identified the most vulnerable workers in Hollywood and the resources and systems that will provide support and a safety net for them. Our expectation is that these tools will be the foundation to build a new era of transparency and accountability for all workers in the entertainment industry."According to the press release, the commission will also train 450 entertainment workers through a bystander intervention training program to teach them how to intervene if they see abuse happening. 2016

An Arizona Uber driver says a local school administrator tried to turn his ride-share van into a school bus.The man, who was granted anonymity for this story, said on Wednesday he showed up at the Arizona Academy of Science and Technology and was surprised to see six school children who appeared to be under the age of eight getting into his Uber.  In a video recorded inside his vehicle, a frustrated exchange takes place between the driver and a woman who identified herself as an acting principal. The woman told the Uber driver the person who requested the ride was the assistant principal since the principal was out of town.After the children loaded up into the van, the driver asked the woman if she was going with them. When she said no, he told her he cannot transport the children without an adult riding with them. The woman asked him why, and he told her it was against Uber's company policy.In the video exchange you hear the woman say:"Every Uber we've had has a different story. Why?" the woman asks the driver in the video. The driver responded by saying that other drivers must not have been aware of the policy.Despite repeated calls, Arizona Academy of Science and Technology did not respond for a request for comment.On its website, school officials state that while they do not provide transportation for students, they are happy to work with families by linking them together and promote car-pooling.The Uber driver said he was bringing this story to light because he felt school administrators were putting the children at risk."It's one thing to carpool with another family or an adult but another thing entirely to put small children in a strangers car you know," said the driver.A spokesman for Uber says under their community guidelines, children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. ANAHEIM (CNS) - Thousands of Disneyland enthusiasts lined up early Friday to experience the theme park's newest Star Wars Land ride.Bobby Navarro of Garden Grove said he got up at 4 a.m. with his friends and got into the park by 5:30 a.m.Navarro experienced Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance when it debuted at Disney World on Dec. 5, so he had some practice in using the company's application to sign up for a pass to the attraction.
