The bill is signed and the federal trillion stimulus package is on the way.But many people are still confused and wonder if they will get a check for ,200.Here's what we do know about who will qualify for the stimulus funds laid out the CARES Act, as of April 8.Q: How will I receive my check? For those who received their last IRS tax refund via direct deposit, the money will go directly into their bank account. Those that received their refund the old-fashioned way, a check will come by mail. But that could take several months, the government says. The IRS is supposed to set up a portal on its website in the coming days, where anyone can update their bank account.Q: Will I qualify for a ,200 stimulus check?About 90% of adults should qualify for an initial ,200 stimulus payment, with a second payment possible later this spring. If they qualify:Individuals will receive a check for ,200.Married couples will receive a check for ,400.Each dependent child will receive 0 (payable to their parents). If your child is a college student who works a job, the rules are still murky as to who gets the check.Q: Who does not qualify for a check?High-income individuals will not receive a check.Benefits will phase out starting at ,000 in Adjusted Gross Income.Singles earning more than ,000 (Adjusted Gross Income) in 2019 will not receive any check.Married couples earning more than 8,000 in 2019 will not receive any check.Q: What if you owe back child support or back taxes?Right now, it does not appear the government will take anything out of stimulus checks for unpaid taxes or other government liens. However, the Wall Street Journal says back child support will likely be taken out of checks.Q: What if you get Social Security and do not file taxes?Seniors on Social Security and younger people on disability will now qualify for a check automatically. Those that receive Social Security do not have to file any tax forms, and the check will go to the same bank account (or mailbox) where they receive monthly benefit checks. However, younger people with very little income and not file taxes must have filed taxes last year or this spring in order to receive a check. That check will be based on your 2018 or 2019 tax return. So younger people must file a 1040 this spring, or the government has no way of knowing if they qualify.Q: What if some of your income is unreported cash? That should not affect the checks, as they are based on the last tax return a person has filed.Q: When will I receive my money?Congressional leaders hope to have the first checks heading to bank accounts in the next week or two. However, if the IRS does not have a bank account number on file, it could be three months before paper checks arrive. As always, don't waste your money._______________________________Don't Waste Your Money" is a registered trademark of Scripps Media, Inc. ¡¡¡¡The European Union has hit Google with another big antitrust fine, the third in a series of billion-dollar penalties the US tech giant has faced for hindering competition. The European Commission on Wednesday ordered Google to pay €1.5 billion (.7 billion) for abusing its dominant position in online search advertising."Google has cemented its dominance in online search adverts and shielded itself from competitive pressure by imposing anti-competitive contractual restrictions on third-party websites," Commissioner Margrethe Vestager said in a statement. The tech company has now been fined €8.2 billion (.3 billion) in total by Europe over the past three years.EU regulators have taken a much more robust approach to Big Tech companies than their US counterparts, especially when it comes to competition, data protection and tax issues.Google has already been fined in two previous EU antitrust cases. The Commission ordered the company to pay €4.34 billion (.9 billion) in July 2018 for unfairly pushing its apps on smartphone users and thwarting competitors. In 2017, it imposed a €2.4 billion (.7 billion) fine on Google for using its search engine to steer consumers to its own shopping platform. The company said in a blog post Tuesday that it was making further changes to its service based on "feedback" from the European Commission. It has started testing a new format that provides users with direct links to comparison shopping sites. It will also ask new and existing Android users in Europe which browser they'd like to use. 1555

The CDC has recently issued guidance indicating that up to nearly one half of antibody tests are inaccurate. While early indications are that having antibodies offers some protection against reinfection, the CDC said too little is known about antibodies to determine whether it is safe for a person to no longer need to conduct social distancing. Additionally, the CDC said that a positive test should not be used at this time to determine if an individual is immune. The CDC added, ¡°Serologic test results should not be used to make decisions about grouping persons residing in or being admitted to congregate settings, such as schools, dormitories, or correctional facilities.¡±The CDC said that it recommends providers use multiple antibody tests on patients, and it obtains the most accurate tests available. The CDC said that the prevalence of those testing positive for antibodies among the general population is between 5 and 25, with higher figures coming from areas with localized outbreaks. The FDA has also warned that all antibody tests can produce false results, and that ¡°broad use of the tests, when not appropriately informed by other relevant information, such as clinical history or diagnostic test results, could identify too many false-positive individuals.¡± 1286
