SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are investigating after they say a man was stabbed while sitting on a bench at Balboa Park early Sunday morning.The stabbing happened on the 2000 block of Park Boulevard at 12:26 a.m. Police reported that the suspect walked up to the 29-year-old victim and asked him for a cigarette.After telling the suspect he didn’t have one, the victim was stabbed in the neck, according to police.The wound was non-life threatening and the victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition, police say.Police are still looking for the suspect.   The assailant is described as a tanned Asian male wearing a blue jacket and about 5'5" tall. 684

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - On Wednesday, emotional testimony was read in a downtown courtroom by the husband and wife who were brutally attacked in an economy parking lot outside of the San Diego International Airport. The testimony was read during the sentencing hearing for Alberto Jauregui, who pleaded guilty to attempted murder. Jauregui appeared to show no remorse. He smirked and smiled at the couple and at our camera. It was last October when police say Jauregui came up to Donna Kashani and husband Robert Bobbett in the parking lot. He reportedly grabbed Kashani by her neck and demanded the keys to their SUV. “You put me in a headlock with a 10-inch knife to my neck and you were dragging me into our SUV and demanding that I get in with you,” Kashani told him and the courtroom.  In a heroic move, Bobbett threw himself in front of her and charged at Jauregui.  “As I rushed toward you, I truly believed I was going to die in this struggle,” Bobbett told Jauregui and the courtroom. He added, “You stabbed me in the chest nearly hitting my heart. All the while [you were] screaming ‘Die, die, die!’”  Bobbett was stabbed six times and nearly died.  Jauregui was caught days later. During Wednesday’s sentencing hearing, he told the courtroom, “You guys have made a big mistake by not giving me help. The San Diego Navy SEAL was demoted to Petty Officer First Class in July, following eight hours of deliberations by a military jury. He was acquitted of murder and other charges in the case. Gallagher was at risk of losing up to 0,000 when he retired due to his lower rank. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Police are looking for the person suspected of using an incendiary device to intentionally start a fire at a San Diego police substation in Logan Heights.At around 11:15 p.m. Monday, officers responded to reports of a fire in the rear parking lot of the Central Division substation in the 2500 block of Commercial Street.Responding firefighters put out the fire before it caused serious damage. No injuries were reported.The Metro Arson Strike Team was called in to investigate the incident after it was determined the fire was sparked by some sort of explosive.Police are viewing trolley security camera footage as part of their search for the suspected arsonist responsible for the blaze. 717

A bevy of surveillance and streetlight video was released during the preliminary hearing for Kevin Cartwright and Lorena Espinoza, accused of killing of Tony Radda, 49.October 2018. Just before 3 p.m., store surveillance video shows a woman wearing a purple wig and sunglasses enter the store.Video shows Radda and the woman going towards the back, possibly to show her some merchandise. Right away, a man in a mask is seen trailing behind them, lurking. When Radda and the woman return, the man in the mask attacks Radda, dragging him out of camera range. Prosecutors believe that is when Radda was shot several times and killed.Soon after, the masked man is caught prying open a cash register. Prosecutors say while the woman took off in an SUV; the man walked away.According to prosecutors, that walk was captured by a string of streetlight cameras. In one of the videos - about 12 blocks away from the store - the man in the mask sheds it, revealing a face, police eventually identified as Cartwright. On Friday, the judge is expected to decide whether the two will go to trial. 1206
