In a vote Thursday night, the Milwaukee Public School board voted to end their contract with the Milwaukee Police Department. The 8,000 yearly contract allowed for the schools to have up to six officers available to respond to incidents on school grounds.Protesters were asking that the money go toward helping students in other ways. Students and parents expressed concerns about school leadership's willingness to call the police when something happened."We had senior pranks. I don’t think the police should have been called for our senior prank. Bringing eggs and toilet tissue to school. There shouldn’t be police outside of school giving us tickets for doing our senior prank,” said Madison Walker who attended Rufus King High School.Milwaukee has become the latest school district to end formal relationships with local police departments or stop school resource officer programs.In early June, the Minneapolis Public School Board voted unanimously to end their contract with Minneapolis police to have officers on campuses. Portland, Oregon followed soon after. Just last week, Denver, Seattle and two districts in the Oakland area voted to end their formal relationships with local police. Time Magazine reported the presence of officers on school campuses has increased in the last two decades, partially because of the increase in school shootings since the 1999 tragedy at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. Well, according to a new survey by the Pew Research Center, roughly half of U.S. adults who use YouTube say it’s helped them learn to do new things. And those behind popular how-to videos are making big bucks.For Greg Wickherst, he began his channel to help other dads struggling just like him. "When I got custody of my daughter, I didn't know how to do her hair,” he says. “I couldn't even do a ponytail, and I didn't want to have her going to school looking like a ragamuffin." Wickherst’s first few videos went viral and he quickly became known as “The Hair Dad.”But it's not just hair tutorials, YouTube is the go-to platform for people to learn how to do stuff. House Republicans are unveiling key details and the text behind their tax legislation Thursday, but not without some reservations from rank-and-file members.In advance of the bill's release -- which will be called the "Tax Cuts and Jobs Act," according to a source in a meeting with GOP members Thursday -- a source shared a summary of the plan, which permanently lowers the lowers the corporate tax rate to 20% and limits the home interest deduction to loans up to 0,000.The bill will also increase the standard deduction for individuals and households, repeals the alternative minimum tax and increased the child tax credit to ,600. The social media platform reports that more than 1.5 million political ads were purchased during that time for a total of more than 0 million.President Donald Trump spent nearly million on Facebook ads during that span. The ads purchased were split between Trump's 2020 campaign and the Trump Make America Great Again Committee — a joint fundraising committee between Trump's campaign committee and the RNC.But even Trump was outspent by Texas Senate candidate Beto O'Rourke. The Democrat spent .3 million on Facebook between May and October. By comparison, O'Rourke's opponent Ted Cruz spent about 0,000 on Facebook during that same time period.It's no secret that O'Rourke has relied heavily on social media in his push to turn Texas blue.
