LAKELAND, Fla. -- A 90-year-old Florida man who dressed in full protective gear to say goodbye to his wife, has died of COVID-19.In a Facebook post, Sam Reck's son-in-law shared the news that Sam has died.JoAnn Reck, Sam's wife of 30 years, died a few weeks earlier after battling COVID-19. She was 86 years old and Sam was 90.Sam Reck had been separated from his wife JoAnn Reck during the pandemic after the state placed a ban on visitors at nursing homes. JoAnn lived in a nursing home and suffered from dementia, and Sam lived in an apartment nearby.Family members said the couple would schedule socially-distant visits once Sam couldn't visit the home any more. LAKELAND, Fla. -- A family argument on Mother's Day turned violent and ended in the arrest of a mother and a son in Lakeland, Florida. Seth Bryant, 27, was arrested for felony battery (domestic violence) on his father, 58-year-old Clayton Bryant, after deputies say Seth and Clayton got into a physical argument over alcohol. The father and son were arguing after Seth demanded he be allowed to have more alcohol, according to the arrest affidavits. Seth reportedly put his fist against his father's face and pushed him with it, deputies say. After deputies with the Polk County Sheriff's Office arrived on scene, Seth reportedly made numerous derogatory racial comments toward the deputy who is black. As Seth was being arrested, Judy Bryant, 54, shoved her husband against a counter and said "How's this for domestic violence?" She then refused commands by the deputies and resisted the deputy's efforts to arrest her. Ultimately, she was placed into handcuffs and was arrested. Judy Bryant was charged with misdemeanor battery (domestic violence). 1083

LeBron James already runs the NBA from a player's perspective, but now people want him to run the country's education system as well. An online petition is asking for signatures to get James considered to take over the Secretary of Education position from Betsy DeVos.The petition says they want James to step in as he has shown his desire to help at-risk children after opening his "I Promise" school in Akron, Ohio late last month which will give education to those children who would not otherwise be able to receive it. It also gives all those who graduate from the school free tuition to Akron University. James recently spoke to CNN's Don Lemon to discuss the new school as well as President Trump to elected DeVos to her position. Trump then went on to tweet about the interview, calling into question James' intelligence. The tweet led to a firestorm of responses calling into question Trump's intelligence as well as the Secretary of Education's. Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers responded to the president's tweet by saying he, and many other athletes across different sports, support James and what he has done in the community, not just the NBA. The petition is looking for 12,000 signatures and currently has over 11,750.  1289

(KGTV)- Wednesday morning, 59-year-old Leslie Furcron slowly made her way to reporters outside the La Mesa Police Department to speak for the first time since she was shot in the forehead by the police bean bag during a protest and then hospitalized.“I'm a law-abiding citizen and I never came here that night for this to be a part of my story,” she said.Attorney Dante Pride said she was one of the thousands of people in front of the La Mesa Police Department two Saturdays ago where she was peacefully protesting police violence. At the time she was hit, police say officers deemed the gathering an unlawful assembly so they began to use measures to disperse protesters, including tear gas and bean bag rounds. He added that she can't remember everything because of her injury. He did address the Facebook Live video she posted, which appeared to show her throwing a can.“The information that we have now is that she threw a can on the ground and in retaliation for that is when the La Mesa Police Department officers targeted and shot her in the face,” he told reporters.In a timeline released on Tuesday by city officials, a round was fired from about 40 yards away toward her after she was reportedly seen throwing an object at deputies.“There is nothing on camera or anywhere that will show that she made an officer of La Mesa Police Department either fear for their life or injured them,” he told reporters.“I'm a god-serving person. Las Vegas police said Monday the MS-13 gang has been responsible for 10 murders in the past year in Southern Nevada. Police said five suspects, including one juvenile, have been arrested in the murders after the last one occurred on March 2. The first one occurred in March of last year. The murders were linked through forensic evidence. The victims died of shooting and stabbing injuries. Six of the 10 victims were kidnapped before police said they were murdered on the outskirts of town. Sheriff Joe Lombardo called the suspects "extremely violent."The discovery of two bodies at Frenchman Mountain within a short period of time helped tip police off after the body was determined to be a MS-13 gang member. The victims have been identified as Daniel Clark, Richard Gaudio, Carlos Pachaca-Rodriguez, Arquimidez Sandoval-Martinez, Juan Carlos Estrada Raya, Jose Hernandez, Ricardo Olivas, Izzak Towery, Earl Ryan and Rony Fuentes.In addition to the ones near Frenchman Mountain, three of the murders occurred near Mount Charleston, while others occurred near Arville Street and Oakey Boulevard, Bonanza and Sandhill roads, Charleston and Nellis boulevards and Charleston Boulevard and Palm Street. 1248
