CAIRO, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao arrived here Friday, starting a two-day official visit to Egypt preceding a top-level review of action to build China-Africa cooperation.     Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazef received Wen at the airport.     During his visit, Wen is scheduled to meet with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and hold talks with Nazef. He will also meet with Arab League chief Amr Mussa, and deliver a speech at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo.     This is Wen's second official visit to Egypt. The first was in 2006, which marked the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomaticties between China and Egypt. Visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao is greeted during a welcoming ceremony in Cairo, capital of Egypt, Nov. 6, 2009After his official visit to Egypt, Wen will attend the opening ceremony of the fourth ministerial meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on Sunday.     Wen will also hold bilateral meetings with leaders of FOCAC member countries at Sharm el-Sheikh.     The FOCAC meeting, an important gathering after the Beijing Summit of the forum in November 2006, will review how the consensus of the Beijing Summit has been implemented.     It is also expected to adopt a declaration and an action plan for 2010-2012 to chart the path for further China-Africa cooperation.     Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and Commerce Minister Chen Deming, as well as other senior officials, are accompanying Wen.

WUHAN, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- A senior leader of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has urged officials and governments at all levels to serve the people by addressing their concerns.     He Guoqiang, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during his visit in Chibi City of central China's Hubei Province on Saturday.     He said officials and governments must solve well the problems that concern people's immediate interests to ensure social harmony and stability.     When visiting a local village and urban community of the city, He urged local officials to help residents increase their incomes and answer the needs required by the people.     He asked the officials to improve their ability of resolving practical problems to bring about more tangible benefits to local people.     He, also secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC, also called on local Party organs to improve their organizational construction, promote intra-party democracy and strengthen the struggle against corruption.

MACAO, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- The celebration gathering marking the10th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland and the inauguration of the third-term government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) were held here Sunday.     President Hu Jintao, who is also general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (CPC) of China and chairman of the Central Military Commission, attended the ceremony, where Macao SAR Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On and principal officials of the SAR government were sworn in. SHANGHAI, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Canada would like to further economic ties with China, said visiting Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper here on Friday.     Harper announced the launch of four new trade offices in China by the Canadian government in cooperation with the Canadian Commercial Cooperation at a welcome banquet here Friday night. During this period, Canadian exports to China have grown by more than 3 billion dollars.     The total bilateral trade is now valued at over 53 billion dollars. China is Canada's second largest merchandise trading partner and third largest export market. BEIJING, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu has called for attention on the ageing problem, noting this is a major issue that concerns "people's livelihood and the nation's lasting peace and stability."     Hui's call came several days ahead of the country's traditional "Senior Citizen's Day," or Double Ninth Festival, which falls on the ninth day of the ninth month in the lunar calendar, or Monday.     Hui, also director of China National Working Commission on Ageing, said at a recent meeting on the aging problem held in Beijing that the elderly were "valuable wealth of the Party and the country," and researchers should provide solid scientific foundation for the government to make strategies for the well-being of the ageing population.     Statistics from the commission show more than 8.3 percent of the 1.3-billion Chinese population are above 65, and in most cities, more than 50 percent of the elderly people live without the company of their children.     Hui said efforts should be made to deal with new conditions concerning ageing, such as unbalanced distribution of the aged between urban and rural areas.
