OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A message threatening African-Americans was found in a men’s bathroom at MiraCosta College in Oceanside, college police said Friday.The discovery was made Thursday afternoon in a stall of the restroom on the second floor of the Oceanside campus library, according to police. The exact nature of the threat was not released.College Police, Oceanside Police and the FBI received the report of a hate crime, officials said. The subject of the crime is unknown.Police are asking for anyone with information to call 760-795-6640. Officers also want to learn if there have been any other incidents of this nature.MiraCosta College President Sunita V. Cooke addressed the issue in a message to the community Friday.“I am dedicated to the safety and well-being of our campus community, and will ensure we take all actions, to the full extent of the law, against any such acts. I am grieved by the expressions of hate. OMAHA, Neb. — Authorities in Omaha say two people died and two others are in critical condition after a home explosion and subsequent fire early Tuesday morning.Following the deadly explosion, it was discovered that the homeowner, 74-year-old Theresa Toledo, had filed a petition for a domestic abuse protection order against 27-year-old Alexander Toledo, stating her relationship as his grandmother. Theresa and her daughter, Angela Toledo, both died in the fire that broke out in the 4800 block of South 51st Street. A dog also was found dead at the scene. According to the Omaha World Herald, Alexander and another person who lived in the home suffered critical injuries.Theresa wrote in the petition, "Alex is on meth, mushrooms that I'm aware of, I haven't been able to see my grandchildren since summer because they are afraid of him as he talks to himself and says his stepfather is in his head, which is not true...he has put holes in the basement walls where he stays and you can't even walk in the basement. He has electronics in the walls & ceiling. I'm afraid he will start my house on fire."Toledo also described her grandson's alleged criminal history with narcotics. She concluded the petition by writing, "I need Alex out of my house now before he destroys my house or harms me, the drugs make him crazy."According to Omaha Fire Department Battalion Chief Scott Fitzpatrick, crews arrived on the scene at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, with a second alarm called at 8:23 a.m. The entire block was initially evacuated before authorities determined there was no threat to other residents.The house that exploded is a complete loss and was leveled in the explosion. Some surrounding homes have extensive damage.Neighbors described the scene as horrifying and said it sounded like a bomb went off. "I heard a very loud explosion. It sounded almost like something was bombed and I flew out of the house thinking it was my house and when I got outside I could see the house was on fire and someone was running down the hill and saying to call 911," said Marianne Distefano, a neighbor. When fire rescue arrived at the scene, the house was engulfed in flames. "It was horrible. I mean it was just in flames and after that, smoke, but you could see it was bad. It looked like someone had bombed the house," Distefano said. Distefano saw one neighbor jump to action. Jeff Mell ran towards the flames when he saw what was happening. "I heard something fall, it sounded like something fell on our house, I thought it was a tree or whatever so I came out front angry and I looked down the street and saw flames coming and I automatically just started running," Mell said. He and another neighbor wrapped a man in blankets and helped him to a safer area. Fire investigators are probing the cause of the explosion. "There are so many variables to tell right now, that’s why we have to investigate and kind of piece it together to see exactly what it was that made that house explode. As you can see, the explosion was pretty big," said Fitzpatrick. OCEANSIDE (KGTV) - It’s been nine months of physical therapy since a great white shark attacked Keane Webre-Hayes. “My love of the ocean is much more than my fear of sharks.” Webre-Hayes tells 10News. He’s been determined to get back into the ocean. While it’s been a long process, he finally made it out spearfishing. Josh Fleming owns Meric Spearfishing in Oceanside, he has been helping get Webre-Hayes ready to dive back into the ocean. “He gave me a gift certificate saying whatever it costs and he got me all geared up.” Fleming gave Webre-Hayes a new diving suit, speargun and other gear to help him prepare for his spearfishing adventures. Webre-Hayes was attacked by the great white shark during his first time lobster diving. He underwent hours of surgery, got one thousand stitches and has continued months of physical therapy. He’s been through intensive therapy at Equinox and Nakoa in Carlsbad. “I love the ocean it’s my second home basically.” Webre-Hayes tells 10News. The shark broke the top of his humorous, tore off his rotator cuff, broke the scapula in three different places and he’s missing parts of his deltoid and lateral muscles. Webre-Hayes tells 10News, “It was a gnarly bite and its crazy that I’m going to be throwing out the first pitch at the Padres game.” Before spearfishing came baseball. He was a left-handed pitcher until his left side was attacked back in September. Nine months later, he’s living out his dream of throwing out the first pitch at the Padres game Tuesday night. “My wish came true just didn’t find the best way to get it.” Webre-Hayes is looking forward to the evening surrounded by his team from Rady Children’s, his physical therapists and Fleming. 1713

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - The United States Department of Veterans Affairs is being sued in federal court over an Oceanside doctor who is accused of sexually assaulting multiple patients. According to the lawsuit filed this week, the VA is being sued for alleged negligence. Dr. Edgar Manzanera is criminally accused of sexually assaulting five female patients but has pleaded not guilty. One of his accusers who is a veteran is a plaintiff in the new federal suit. According to the complaint, she claims that the Oceanside clinic failed to warn her that several patients had already complained about the doctor's alleged inappropriate sexual contact. According to the court documents, the "…VA did not investigate these prior complaints, or suspend Manzanera from evaluating women for VA."In an email to 10News, a VA spokesperson wrote, “VA does not typically comment on pending litigation.”Dr. Manzanera’s criminal trial starts in September. 952

Koontz said. “I believe they put all the guys that were hurt in the accident in the wounded warrior battalion so that gives them time to go over what happened."The Marine Corps is not paying the flights and hotel stays for the families visiting the injured Marines.
