SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego County health officials have warned at least three local churches about having services indoors. The county sent out three letters to Skyline Church in La Mesa; Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lemon Grove; and Awaken Church's campus on Balboa Avenue in Kearny Mesa. The letters to Skyline and Lighthouse were very similar, saying indoor services create "significant risk of spreading COVID-19," encouraging the churches to move their in-person services outside. The third document is a cease-and-desist letter sent to Awaken Church ordering the church to stop indoor operations. All three letters are dated July 17 and are signed by County Public Health Officer Dr. Wilma Wooten. The letters state that failure to comply with these orders can mean criminal misdemeanor citations with a fine of ,000 for each violation. On July 13, the state announced restrictions on indoor operations at places of worship amid an increase in coronavirus cases around California.10News reached out to all three churches Tuesday afternoon, but have not heard back from any of the three. 1105

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diegans have every opportunity to get moving as the new year gets underway.America's Finest City was recently ranked by financial website WalletHub as the ninth most active city in the U.S. The study examined 100 cities around the country, comparing them on metrics including the presence of fitness centers and sports facilities, costs of fitness memberships, trail availability, and share of inactive adults. The metrics were then organized under either "budget and participation" and "sports and outdoors."San Diego ranked first in fitness centers and sports centers per capita, seventh in baseball and softball diamonds per capita, 22nd in basketball hoops per capita, 16th in parkland acres per capita, and 30th in walking. Those rankings brought the city's budget and participation rank to 27 and sports and outdoors rank to eight.RELATED: 7 unique workouts in San Diego to start the year strongChula Vista was also ranked on the study, though at a distant 79, ranking 25th in budget and participation and 87 in sports and outdoors. So where is the most active city located, according to WalletHub? SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego County's recovering job market will take a hit from the new wave of coronavirus-related restrictions that went into effect this week, SANDAG's chief economist said Thursday. The region's jobless rate had been falling from a peak of 25% in early May to 14.3% in late June, the San Diego Association of Governments reported Thursday. However, on July 6, new restrictions went into effect to slow the spread of COVID 19. Restaurants and several other public-facing businesses were forced to end indoor service, while bars that don't serve food were required to close. That sent people who had returned to work back to seeking unemployment."Until there's a vaccine in place, it's going to be a very bumpy ride," said Ray Major, SANDAG's chief economist. "It's going to be up and down. There will be times probably where they say OK we can start opening up again, and then for some reason the health numbers start to become worse, and so the economy is going to be impacted again."At Little Italy's Cloak and Petal restaurant, managing partner Cesar Vallin said only about half of the restaurant's 40 workers have been brought back. He said the restaurant changed its menu and moved service outside, but the lower capacity is hitting revenue. "Let's just face it, this could happen two or three more times by end of the year," Vallin said. "If it does, we've got to get really good at opening and closing turn key."SANDAG estimates 240,000 San Diegans are currently unemployed.Faisal Asseri, Cloak and Petal's Bar Director, started receiving unemployment insurance this week again after returning to work. "I would like to say that I'm doing better than what it kind of looks like out there," he said. "It's a tough time for people in the industry, it's a tough time for bartenders."SANDAG says the areas with the highest unemployment are in mid-city and San Ysidro. 1899
