SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle while on Interstate 5 late Sunday.The pedestrian was on southbound I-5, just north of Cesar E Chavez Parkway, just before 11 p.m. when a vehicle struck and killed the person, according to the California Highway Patrol.Several vehicles hit the person after the initial crash, CHP added.CHP said it's unclear why the person was on the freeway and whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.I-5 was closed between Cesar Chavez Parkway and Logan Avenue while CHP investigators responded. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A local family is remembering their mother who died suddenly after suffering a brain aneurysm.Monica Pimentel, 43, collapsed at her home on May 17. She died the next day at the hospital with her family by her side. Monica was born and raised in San Diego. She graduated from Patrick Henry High School and was deeply involved in the San Carlos community. She was the mother of four children.This is the second time tragedy has struck the Pimentel family. In 2014, one of their daughters, Jewelean Pimentel, died from bacterial meningitis. Jewelean was a freshman at Patrick Henry and was also a cheerleader for the school. The family's father is devastated after suffering two heartbreaking losses. He is now taking care of the remaining three children. He and Monica had been married for 20 years. The Pimentel family released the following statement after Monica's death: 924

According to the poll, Democrat Ammar Campa-Najjar is leading the race, followed by Republican Carl DeMaio and Republican Darrell Issa. Meanwhile, the poll is also an indication of how district residents feel about a number of issues, including impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump. To get the data, SurveyUSA interviewed 770 voting-age individuals in California’s 50th Congressional District between September 27 and October 2. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A Marine was killed in a hit-and-run accident in the Midway District just after 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night, according to San Diego Police.The victim, who was in his early 20's, was visiting an establishment with his friends earlier that night.At some point, his friends could not find him. Police said he walked or fell into the street in the 2700 block of Midway Drive.Police said a car hit him and took off toward Rosecrans Street. There was no description of the driver or vehicle available. Police were checking surveillance video and his phone to find out more information.
