PINE VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) - A man suspected of smuggling drugs along Interstate 8 with his teenage son in the car was arrested Friday by U.S. Border Patrol agents in Pine Valley. The 62-year-old unidentified man drove a Honda Accord through the I-8 immigration checkpoint and triggered a Border Patrol canine response, agents said. A secondary inspection turned up anomalies with the car’s battery.Agents said they found four vaccuum-sealed bags that tested positive for characteristics of cocaine. The packages weighed 10 pounds and had a street value of more than 0,000, according to the Border Patrol. The man, a U.S. citizen, was taken into the custody of the Drug Enforcement Administration. Police in Wisconsin have confirmed two cases of tampered Halloween candy throughout the state.In Arcadia, Wisconsin — a town located near the Wisconsin/Minnesota border — police confirmed that at least one child found needles in multiple pieces of Halloween candy.The needles were not visible until the candy was opened and broken in half. In both instances, the needles appeared to be sewing needles.Police say the incident happened sometime during trick-or-treat hours, between 3:00 and 7:00 p.m. They've warned parents in the community to check their children's candy.A few hundred miles away in Neenah, Wisconsin, police reported that nails were found in three pieces of Halloween candy.A spokesman for the Neenah Police Department said that a mother found three Kit Kat candy bars with nails protruding from them in her son's candy stash.Police suspect they can narrow down the house where the boy was given the candy, but did not say they were investigating any suspects.It's the second straight year in which a nail was found in a Neenah trick-or-treater's candy. (KGTV) — An unusual fossil deposit was discovered during construction at the State Route 11/Otay Mesa East Port of Entry Project, yielding remains that may be up to 28 million years old.The state Department of Transportation says skeletal remains of extinct mammals — including camels, oreodonts, rodents, and possibly a large carnivore — were discovered at the site of the SR-11 and Otay Mesa East Port of Entry project.The fossils are estimated to be somewhere between 16 to 28 million years old, or Earth's Tertiary Period, and could provide more insight into our area's history.Paleo Monitors from the San Diego Natural History Museum found the remains in what appears to be a new geologic formation that has yet to be mapped in the region. The area also contains plant fossils and volcanic bombs (or pieces of rock ejected by a volcano), the DOT says.The Nat will curate and catalog the fossils into its paleontology program.The construction project, which will create a new port of entry into the country, will continue as planned, the state said. 1080

PARSONS, Tennessee — A 12-year-old boy led a Decatur County, Tennessee deputy on a chase Thursday morning during a “joyride” in his father’s truck before later crashing into a building. The call came in around 5:45 a.m. local time when the owner of the vehicle reported it as his son and truck. Sheriff Keith Byrd said the boy went on a "joyride" in his father's truck.A deputy later spotted the truck and tried to stop it but the boy allegedly fled. From there, he crashed into a business near two highways.The was significant damage to the building. The boy suffered some bruises. It’s unclear whether he'll face charges. 651
