 A Girl Scout leader in Beaverton, Oregon was at the right place at the right time.Diane Bauer said she was at a Fred Meyer store on Wednesday when her teenage daughter Charlotte noticed a mother in distress at few aisles over.Bauer said her daughter was pointing to a baby a mother was holding – and realized the 5-week-old infant was not breathing.That's when the CPR-certified Girl Scout leader dropped everything and ran over to help.Bauer said she took the baby, told the cashier to call 911, and gave the newborn CPR.“The only room that was available was the little check writing stand,” said Bauer. “Those breaths started to go in and I continued until he came to, and in the meantime the mom was calling 911.”Soon, Bauer said she felt the baby's little heartbeat. After a few more breaths, the baby was alert and breathing on his own again.“Had the mom hold his hand, stroked his face and he kind of turned and nuzzled towards her like he was hungry,” said Bauer.Bauer said she and her daughter stayed until paramedics arrived.She credits her daughter for recognizing that the baby had stopped breathing.Bauer said she had just finished the CPR recertification at her job last month. 1204

State health authorities recently issued guidance for visits to resume, but few are happening as infection rates surge in California.Facilities are being cautious after many suffered severe outbreaks earlier in the pandemic. Nursing facilities account for about 40% of California's roughly 7,000 coronavirus deaths. Families have relied on phone and video calls to stay in touch with loved ones. (CNN) - A Boston area man came home from work with his son to find something amiss.He thought that maybe they had been robbed. But upon further inspection, he discovered that nothing was missing and his home was sparkling clean.Nate Roman lives in a single-family home in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Roman tells CNN he left for work the morning of May 15 and came home from picking up his son to find his door was unlocked."[My son said], 'Dad! The door is unlocked.' Which I have done once every blue moon and didn't think anything of it. But when we walked in immediately there was a vibe that something was wrong in the house."He realized that someone may have been in his home because a door he normally keeps open was firmly shut. Roman then went upstairs to check the rest of the house.He discovered his son's room, which was a wreck when they left that morning, was neat as a pin. He found his room in the same pristine condition."Rugs were vacuumed, everything was neat and put away," Roman said.He immediately called the police, and they took the incident very seriously. They cleared the house to make sure no one was still there.Police told CNN affiliate WBZ-TV that they spoke with the neighbors and no one saw anything suspicious. There are no suspects."No crime happened, nothing was missing or damaged, so the police have very little to go on," Roman said.The security system was also not set so cameras that would be activated when the alarm goes off did not get images of the intruder. The time stamp on the door sensors indicated that whoever it was stayed in the house for about 90 minutes.Later, he discovered roses made from toilet paper in the bathroom, a detail that made him realize this was probably the work of a professional. His theory is that a cleaning service came to the wrong address, but his kitchen was untouched which makes him second guess his suspicion.He has since changed his locks and admits that he is still opening cabinets very carefully in case something unexpected was left behind.Roman is hoping to move past the ordeal, but he did keep the toilet paper roses as a souvenir. 2129

NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) -- Three people were injured after a car slammed into a National City restaurant Tuesday afternoon. The crash happened on the 1000 block of Highland Avenue in National City at the Pho 7 Cow restaurant around 2 p.m.An employee of a nearby jewelry store said scene was chaotic, describing the vehicle as going all the way into the building. RELATED: Driver crashes car into National City bar The owner of the restaurant says two customers and an employee were injured in the crash. Their condition is unknown at this time, but a witness said they didn’t appear serious. Roughly 20 people were eating lunch when the car crashed into the front of the restaurant, according to the owner. Surveillance video from inside the restaurant shows the car plow through the front and into a large aquarium near the door. 10News learned all of the fish inside the aquarium died.The owner said the woman driving the car may have accidentally pushed the gas instead of the brake. Inspectors from the city and fire department arrived shortly after the crash to check out the building. The owner was told the structure is sound.
