SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man suffered serious injuries after a scooter crash on the Mission Beach boardwalk late Tuesday afternoon. According to police, the crash happened around 4:30 p.m. near Ocean Front Walk and San Luis Obispo Place. Authorities say a 55-year-old man on a bicycle and a 27-year-old man on a scooter collided on the boardwalk."His bike was upside and he was just laying there," said Nicole Ryujin, who saw the aftermath. "He wasn’t moving and at first I was like, 'is this guy okay?'" Police say the 55-year-old was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but not life threatening. According to police, the 27-year-old didn't suffer any injuries. Investigators say the scooter rider was headed north on the boardwalk, and the biker was headed south, when they collided. At this time, it's unclear exactly what led to the crash. Traffic investigators questioned the scooter rider on scene. Investigators say there is no criminal investigation at this time. 987

They were due back in December. Months later, they remain in a hotel in Shanghai."They're healthy, but I'm worried. It spreads very quickly," said Cortes.With no available flights home, their return date remains unknown."You're missing out on your family, the pillar of life that that gets you stable. Not having my mom is affecting to me," said Cortes.Another thing affecting him is a loss of work. His part-time job with MTS special events has been scuttled with the ongoing coronavirus precautions."My job is my only source of income," said Cortes.Cortes is worried about having enough money for food and his next rent payment."Just don't really what to expect of the future. It seems to be snowballing into a bigger and bigger effect," said Cortes.For Cortes, the impact may also be felt in his schooling. He's a business major at City College. His classes are now online, a format he doesn't perform well with."It's not the same to study online than to actually to go to class, to be able to talk to the teacher and answer your questions," said Cortes.Cortes fears he won't pass his final classes and won't graduate in May. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man who reportedly threatened to “kill all the gays and children” at the San Diego Pride parade was charged with three bank robberies after authorities linked him to both the threats and the robberies. According to authorities, Andre Lafayette Holmes was linked to three bank robberies in San Diego County spanning from 2016 to 2019 after reportedly making the threats against Pride. FBI agents identified Holmes following threats he made to Pride organizers on July 10, 2019, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s office. In the first of two late-morning calls to organizers of the parade, the caller said: : “I think I’m going to have to kill all the gays and the children.” He then repeated, “I’m going to have to kill the f------ and children.” The employee asked, “Sir, what’s your name?” The caller replied: “I don’t like them” and “I hate the f------," the U.S. Attorney's office says. Authorities say he then hung up the phone before calling again about four minutes later, stating: “F--- Donald Trump. I hate Hillary. I hate f---. I’m going to shoot up the Pride event.” San Diego Police were able to track Holmes down near Miramar College using his cellphone. After searching his vehicle and home, investigators found evidence linking him to the bank robberies, including a semi-automatic pistol, a rubber “old man” mask, a large bag of cash and clothes believed to have been worn by the bank robber. Holmes is accused of robbing a US Bank on Campo Road in Spring Valley on November 4, 2016; Mission Federal Credit Union in San Diego on June 14, 2018, and California Bank and Trust on Fifth Avenue, also in San Diego, on June 28, 2019. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A local organization is raising money for a good Samaritan that died in February in Pine Valley. Sunday, the It's All About the Kids Foundation hosted the "Be Like Bob" art show to raise money for a scholarship in Bob Bruno's honor. Bruno died in February when he stopped to help a driver on the I-8 in Pine Valley. While helping, there was another accident and to avoid being hit, Bruno jumped over the side of the guardrail, falling into the canyon below. "I think he would be really honored to know that we were memorializing him this way," said Gwendolyn Sneed, Bruno's long-time partner. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego guitarist is bringing smiles and lifting spirits at Sharp Memorial Hospital.Mark Shatz performs for patients and anyone who walks by.“I've been a volunteer for four years and I come three afternoons a week to do this,” said Shatz. “I get a lot of thumbs up, a lot of smiles.”Shatz learned how to play guitar when he was 12 years old. He performed with a few garage bands but stopped for 33 years.“Wouldn’t you know it, somebody handed me a guitar and said ‘would you play happy birthday’,” Shatz remembered.Shatz had the idea to play for patients when he was visiting his wife in the hospital.“My wife was happy, there was a friend visiting my wife that was happy, and the patient in the other bed…I couldn't believe the reaction of the patient in the other bed,” said Shatz.
