She tried another and realized she wasn't on a human path; she was on a boar path."At that point I had no choice because everything looked the same. I said, 'The only thing I have is my gut. I don't have a compass. I don't have a cell phone,'" she said. "'So, spirit,' or whatever you want to pray to, I said, 'I need your help right now.'"She said she listened to her sense of guidance, which instead of taking her back to her car, took her on a 5-mile journey, one she called a "spiritual boot camp."She spent 17 days in the woods trying to stay alive and catch the attention of searchers in helicopters. Rescuers found her on May 24 after more than two weeks in the wilderness.She spent two days in a Maui hospital being treated for severe sunburn, a twisted knee and ankle problems before she went home Monday night.Eller thinks the days she spent alone in the woods, surviving on berries and stream water, is part of something bigger, something that has been changing her life since she moved to Maui four years ago. 2331

A mechanic for American Airlines was arrested Thursday and accused of trying to sabotage a commercial airliner shortly before it was set to take off from Miami International Airport for the Bahamas with 150 people on board.Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed Alani has been charged with "willfully damaging, destroying, disabling, or wrecking an aircraft, and attempting to do so," according to a criminal complaint filed in federal court.Alani allegedly tried to damage or disable the aircraft's air data module (ADM) system, which reports aircraft speed, pitch and other critical data, on July 17.On Thursday, investigators interviewed Alani and he "admitted that he accessed the ADM" and that he "inserted a piece of foam into the ADM's inlet where the line connects and that he applied super glue to the foam so as to prevent the foam from coming off," the complaint says."Alani stated that his intention was not to cause harm to the aircraft or its passengers," investigators say in the complaint.The court documents say Alani told investigators that he was upset over a contract dispute between union workers and the airlines, and the dispute had cost him money.Alani allegedly explained that he tampered with the aircraft so he could get overtime working on the plane.As the plane went down the runway and pilots increased power to the engines, there was an error related to the ADM system and the takeoff was aborted.The aircraft returned to the concourse and no one on board was injured, the complaint says.American Airlines mechanics immediately inspected the aircraft and "discovered a loosely connected pitot tube, which connects directly to the ADM" and determined "the ADM appeared to have been deliberately obstructed with what appeared to be a dark Styrofoam-type material," according to the complaint.Authorities used surveillance video to identify Alani, the document says.American Airlines, in a statement to CNN, said, "At American we have an unwavering commitment to the safety and security of our customers and team members and we are taking this matter very seriously. At the time of the incident, the aircraft was taken out of service, maintenance was performed and after a inspection to ensure it was safe the aircraft was returned to service. A Phoenix man was arrested after stabbing his father so many times, the knife broke, according to court records. Phoenix police report that on Friday, March 1, they were called to a home in Phoenix after a witness observed mail collecting in a resident’s mailbox.Police discovered Clemente Valenzuela Garcia decomposing in the home. Police say he died from multiple stabs wounds to "multiple planes of his body."It is believed Clemente died on February 22.At the crime scene, police also allegedly found a broken knife blade and bloody footprints leading away from the victim’s body.Family members reported to police that Clemente and his son, Erik Joseph Garcia, 25, owned a truck together and that the truck was missing. Police also found an "extensive domestic violence history at the residence."A witness later reportedly gave police a social media video that shows Erik saying, "He deserved it. Everybody’s happy without him. I was done with him because I'm a man now. I'm free."Upon his arrest, Erik reportedly told police that he was tired of being yelled at, and he stabbed Clemente in the chest, multiple times until the knife broke.Police say shoes found in the bed of Erik's truck match the bloody footprints at the scene.Erik Garcia is being held without bond for first-degree murder. 1308
