(KGTV) -- A driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI after two cars collided on Interstate 805 in the South Bay, sending one car sliding down the freeway several hundred feet.According to Chula Vista police, the crash happened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday on northbound I-805 near H Street in Chula Vista.A tow truck driver stopped to help and said the four people inside the overturned car were able to crawl out the wreckage and broken glass.The second car was able to pull over down the freeway, with minor damage.One of the flipped cars' passengers was transported to the hospital. The other three, as well as the other driver, was treated on scene for minor injuries.California Highway Patrol is investigating and believes alcohol may have been a factor. 782

(KGTV) - Chula Vista neighbors are dealing with the aftermath of a San Diego Gas and Electric equipment malfunction that triggered a power outage and caused their homes to smoke.Residents on Country Club Circle told 10News about the outage Saturday night. Electricity was restored and everything seemed fine, they said, but they woke up to sparked outlets, smoke and fire Sunday morning.“Every single room sounded like someone came in with gunshots,” said Mona Hernandez. “My girls got up screaming ‘fire’ in one of the rooms and I thought they were on fire. I feared they were actually on fire until I got to see them.”SDG&E said the equipment failure involved a transformer and affected more than 400 homes in the area.One woman said she was concerned about her air conditioning and heating working for her son.“He’s disabled. We need the heater to use. He's going to have open brain surgery next week. (KGTV) -- Dozens of South Bay parents want to know why the principal at their neighborhood school was unceremoniously removed from her post right before the school closed for Fall Break. “I’m very frustrated,” said Greg Rogers Elementary PTA President Caroline Garvin. Garvin said she learned Friday that the Chula Vista Elementary School District reassigned Principal Erika Taylor.  A district spokesman said Taylor was reassigned as a Principal on Special Assignment in special education. Garvin said the Rogers faculty was told Friday towards the end of the school day. “The looks on the face of the staff:  There were people crying.  There were people that were upset because she was a true leader,” she said.  “To take that away from us without explanation and to do it before a break so that parents can’t even be here to help fight for her is just wrong to me.” All the schools in the Chula Vista Elementary School District are closed for the next two weeks for Fall Break. Garvin said there are a lot of parents upset about Taylor’s removal.  Garvin said she confronted CVESD Superintendent Dr. Francisco Escobedo. “He said he would not be able to give an explanation not now and not in the future,” she recalled. In the meantime, Garvin said Taylor has hired a lawyer to fight for her job back. “She’s got three kids.  She’s a single mom,” said Garvin. “I’m really proud of her.  I want her to fight this.” 1529
