Garrett Rolfe, the now fired Atlanta Police officer who shot Rayshard Brooks twice late Friday night, has turned himself into the Fulton County (Georgia) Jail on Thursday.Bond has not been set for Rolfe as of Thursday afternoon.Rolfe has been indicted on 11 charges, including murder. Investigators said Rolfe fired two shots at Brooks, resulting in the Brooks’ death.Officer Devin Brosnan has been charged with aggravated assault and several violations of his oath of office. Brosnan was placed on administrative leave late Saturday.As of late Thursday afternoon, Brosnan was no longer in custody after he was released on bond.Brooks died on Friday night after Rolfe shot him in the parking lot of a Wendy’s restaurant.The Georgia Bureau of Investigations said that officers responded to a call of a man who fell asleep behind the wheel in a drive thru. The police accused Brooks of failing a field sobriety test, which prompted the officers to attempt to arrest Brooks.Video of the incident showed that Brooks then struggled with officers over a Taser. As Brooks took off with a Taser in hand, Rolfe fatally shot Brooks.Brooks was transported to the hospital, and he died during surgery. 1197

Good Samaritans and authorities rescued a couple in their 70s whose vehicle crashed into a Long Island canal following a collision with another vehicle Monday.Police say it happened when a Ford pickup truck and a Subaru were involved in a motor vehicle crash at Venetian Promenade and Montauk Highway in Suffolk County, New York. When the Subaru backed up following the crash, police say it collided with a Mercury.The Mercury crashed through a fence and fell into a canal.Video shows the moment the car was partially submerged in the water.Five good Samaritans and two Suffolk County police officers jumped into the water to rescue the couple.Joseph Abitabile, 78, was driving the Mercury. He was rescued from the vehicle, along with his wife, Delores, 76, who was unconscious.An off-duty Lake Success police officer administered CPR, restoring the woman's pulse and breathing back to normal.The Abitabiles, one good Samaritan, the two Suffolk County officers and the driver of the Subaru were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. (AP) — An employee of California State University, Fullerton was killed in a stabbing in a campus parking lot Monday in what police called a targeted attack, though they were not sure of a motive.The victim was in his late 50s and worked in international student admissions at the sprawling campus in Orange County, police Lt. Jon Radus said. He was not immediately identified by authorities.A witness who called 911 said the suspect fled on foot, Radus said. (AP) — A man serving a life sentence in the death of his estranged wife led authorities to where he buried her body in Michigan eight years ago in exchange for an Xbox, according to authorities.Doug Stewart, 29, will also be allowed to participate in some prison programs, the Sturgis Journal reported.On Monday, he took detectives to a wooded area in Kalamazoo County where he had buried Venus Stewart, 32. He'd left two stumps at the site as a landmark."I knew I couldn't forget where she was," he told WWMT-TV.Doug Stewart was living in Virginia when his estranged wife disappeared in April 2010 from her parents' home in Michigan. Venus Stewart had moved after accusing her husband of domestic violence and molesting their daughter, according to police reports.Doug Stewart was convicted of first-degree murder in 2011, based largely on the testimony of Ricky Spencer. Spencer told authorities that he had been persuaded to impersonate Doug Stewart while the man drove to Michigan.Authorities have been visiting with Stewart annually since his sentencing to try and get information about the body's location."The criminal portion has been closed. We just kept at it to help find closure for Venus' family," said Michigan State Police Detective Sgt. Todd Peterson.Stewart had long maintained that he hadn't been involved in the killing, but said things changed when his sister began to reconcile with his wife's family.
