HELENA, Mont. – Republican Steve Daines of Montana won a second Senate term on Tuesday, dealing a blow to Democrats' hopes of gaining a majority in the chamber. The former business executive and Donald Trump loyalist defeated Gov. Steve Bullock.Daines’ first election in 2014 broke a Democratic lock on the Senate seat that had lasted more than 100 years. After Trump carried Montana by more than 20 percentage points in 2016, Daines emerged as one of the president’s ardent defenders.Bullock is a two-term Montana governor who entered the race in March after dropping a presidential bid that attracted little support.Political groups and the campaigns poured more than 0 million into the contest, a record-shattering figure for the sparsely populated state. 768

Hershey's chocolate is about to get more expensive. The candy company is planning to raise the prices of a fifth of its products by about 2.5%, Hershey reiterated on Thursday. The changes will go into effect next year. One of many companies getting squeezed by rising commodity and shipping costs, Hershey hopes higher prices will offset those costs without scaring away customers.Hershey (HSY) first said that it would raise prices over the summer, citing rising operational costs. "Our new pricing approach is much more precise," said CEO Michele Buck at the time.Chief Financial Officer Patricia Little said on Thursday that Hershey started feeling the impact of higher freight and logistics last year."I don't expect that to change going forward into next year," she said. The company is doing more than just increase prices to drive growth.Hershey is investing in digital to keep impulse shopping alive online. It's also introduced new products like Hershey's Gold, a "caramelized creme" bar with pretzels and peanuts baked inside, and Reese's Outrageous, a peanut butter chocolate bar with Reese's candy inside.Next year, the company will introduce Reese's Thins, a 40% thinner Reese's peanut butter cup.Plus, the company has been scooping up healthier brands, including Pirate Brands, which makes Pirate's Booty, Smart Puffs and Original Tings.Last year, Hershey's bought Amplify Snack Brands, which makes SkinnyPop popcorn and Oatmega whey-protein bars, for .6 billion. Pirate Brands will operate within Amplify's hub in Austin, Texas. The acquisitions boosted sales in the third quarter. Sales increased by 2.9% in the three months that ended in September compared to the same period last year.The-CNN-Wire 1721

Googled your name lately? You might be surprised by what you find.If someone has your name and your approximate age, they can find out a lot about you online.Digital journalist Yael Grauer says people search sites like Spokeo, Whitepages, and MyLife make a lot of your personal information widely available.Public records, court documents, real estate, voter rolls,  are all places Grauer says your information is pulled from. And it's up to you to get it taken down. In an article for the website Motherboard, Grauer gives a list of people search sites and how to request that your information be removed. Some sites like MyLife, require a phone call or email. But others have more hoops for you to jump through."They want you to mail your driver’s license," Grauer said.Even then, removal may not be permanent."You have to repeat this process every three months or so," Grauer says of the privacy service.Grauer says the privacy service, Delete Me, offers to continuously have you removed for an annual fee.But Grauer says the easiest way to keep them out of your business is to "be careful about not giving out your information as much as possible."That could mean using a P.O. box or your work address to receive mail — or using your initials instead of your full name when making purchases. 1316

From millennials to baby boomers, almost everyone is affected by the opioid epidemic. While the issue touches so many people, a study done by Stericycle shows that Americans aren't as educated as they could be when it comes to disposing their leftover opioids. The study indicates that leftover opioids are proving to be a large source of this national epidemic. Sharing opioids: The study digs into people's habits when they are prescribed medications and how they usually dispose of them. It found that 74 percent of people think sharing and selling unused prescriptions is contributing to the growth of the epidemic. While a majority of Americans feel this way, the study also found that Millennials are 68 percent less likely than Baby Boomers to agree that sharing or selling their unused prescriptions is a contributing factor. Millennials also aren't concerned about sharing their leftover opioids. Compared to Baby Boomers, Millenials are more than twice as likely to share their unused prescriptions with a family member, and 33 percent more likely to have used an opioid recreationally in the last six months.Holding onto the medication:While most Americans think sharing is contributing to the problem, 30 percent admitted to keeping leftover prescriptions for future use out of a fear of an illness returning.  Collection of opioids: The study reveals that 15 percent of these people hanging onto their medication are doing so because they don't know how to dispose of them. 68 percent of people agree that having access to safe and secure disposal methods would help the epidemic, but 83 percent admit they have never participated in these available programs. While the need for programs like this is evident, the study shows that tackling a problem like this it isn't so simple.  1910

GameStop announced this week that an additional 400 to 450 locations would close across the country by the end of 2020.While more video games are available for digital downloads, the next generation PS5 and Xbox will contain disc drives. The company was concerned that the next generation models would be digital only.Already in the last year, GameStop has closed 388 locations, shrinking its current retail footprint to 5,192 locations.“This will allow us to more efficiently and profitably service our customers,” company CEO George Sherman said about the closures. While many retailers have been shrinking their footprints as customers change their buying habits, GameStop is also encountering a change in technology in recent years, which has allowed customers to purchase games online. But GameStop says that there are some customers who prefer a physical disc, and that large video game downloads can use up internet data.“We believe the actions we are taking to optimize the core operations of our business by increasing efficiencies and creating a frictionless digital ecosystem to serve our customers, wherever and whenever they choose to shop, are enabling us to navigate the COVID-19 environment while positioning us well for the launch of the next generation of consoles,” Sherman said.GameStop saw a 26.7% drop in Quarter 2 sales in 2020 compared to 2019. 1374
