MILAN, Italy, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Thursday called on Asian and European countries to safeguard peace and security and boost inter-connectivity so as to promote development of the world's largest landmass.

The report said the government has enhanced efforts in industrial restructuring, restricting the capacity of high-polluting, energy-intensive industries, eliminating obsolete productivity and dissolving surplus capacity.

Prior to the senior officials' meeting, China and ASEAN will hold the 12th joint working group meeting on the implementation of the DOC, the spokeswoman said.

APEC groups 21 members, including the United States, China, Japan and Russia, and discusses key issues such as economic development of the Asia-Pacific region.
