From birthdays to graduations to Sunday dinner, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed how families gather, especially when grandparents are involved."If you would have asked me as recently as six to nine months ago, if we would have ever considered buying or owning an RV, that would have probably been the furthest thing from my mind," said Chuck Boetsch. For Chuck and his wife, Robyn, travel has always been a priority both domestic and international. But back in 2017, Chuck had a left lung transplant after dealing with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis for four years, leaving him immunocompromised."One of the things that, being at an advanced age is the desire when you have children and grandchildren is to have the ability to see them. So, being locked down since March, it’s been really difficult not being able to have the personal interaction with our children and grandchildren," said Chuck.Chuck and Robyn live in Tampa with one of their daughters, the other three live in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Colorado."FaceTime and technology are great but it’s no substitute for seeing people individually. So, after thinking about it for quite some time and how we could do it knowing that flying for both of us is out of the question, we decided to rent an RV," said Chuck. They liked it so much, they bought their own. They believe it's the only way to safely see family for at least the next few years. Not only do they not deal with other people at airports or on planes, but they’re staying in a much safer environment."So far, we’ve really kind of enjoyed it, it’s been fun," said Robyn. They say they’ve seen parts of the country they never knew were so breathtaking that they've always just flown over."I didn’t know it was so beautiful. Those states are just absolutely gorgeous," said Robyn. So far, they’ve taken a trip out west to visit family in Colorado. They just got back from a 12-day trip up north stopping to see two of their daughters and their families, even celebrating Robyn's birthday."It’s not without its problems, though. There’s a lot that goes into it in terms of planning, how much medication you take, how much food you take, how many miles can you effectively drive in one day, and where we’re going to stop," said Chuck. However, it’s all worth it when you get to spend time with your family."We miss our family. And that’s the only way we can see them," said Robyn. 2400

Good people of America, the lottery jackpots need to be stopped. They are getting too powerful.Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing is worth 7 million (its largest ever), and Wednesday's Powerball jackpot stands at 5 million. The reason these jackpots have ballooned to such monstrous proportions is that, well, no one has won in a while. According to a release from Mega Millions, the last Mega Millions jackpot was won July 24, netting 11 co-workers a combined 3 million. The last Powerball jackpot, which totaled 5.6 million, was won August 11 by a man in Staten Island, New York.Believe it or not, this week's combined billion-dollar haul is not the biggest prize in the lottery's history. That honor goes to a 2016 Powerball jackpot, which clocked in at .586 billion (although it was shared by three winners).Of course, the actual amount you'll win is considerably less than a billion dollars, not just because of taxes and annuities and fine print things. The amount you will win is likely Has @BubbaWallace apologized to all of those great NASCAR drivers & officials who came to his aid, stood by his side, & were willing to sacrifice everything for him, only to find out that the whole thing was just another HOAX? That & Flag decision has caused lowest ratings EVER!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 6, 2020 348, because the odds of winning either jackpot are one in several hundred million.Sure sure, someone needs to win eventually, we know. But it's not going to be you.**OK, almost certainly not. But cheer up! There are often secondary prizes to these huge drawings that can be worth millions of dollars, and a shocking amount of them go unclaimed -- probably because people get too focused on the biggest possible way to win. 1435

General Electric is cutting its stock dividend for only the second time since the Great Depression. The company announced Monday that it will cut the dividend from 24 cents to 12 cents per share.GE is one of America's most widely held stocks, and countless shareholders, including retirees, rely on the dividend payments. But the company is under enormous pressure to restore investor confidence. The stock has lost a third of its value this year. The company also cut its dividend in 2009, during the Great Recession. But dividend cuts are rare these days. Many companies are increasing them because the U.S. economy is healthy and the stock market is booming.GE plans an update for investors Monday morning and is expected to detail a strategy to stabilize the company by slashing costs and selling more businesses. It has already gotten rid of its real estate portfolio, its dishwasher and appliance business, and media properties NBC and Universal Studios. More recently, it unloaded its water business and a unit that makes electrical equipment for utilities.Even the light bulb division is up for sale as part of GE's mission to focus on being a modern industrial company that sells things like jet engines, power plants and MRI machines.GE confirmed on Friday that job cuts, some of which have begun, are part of a previously announced plan to cut costs by billion.  1386

Hank Williams Jr., Marty Stuart, and songwriter Dean Dillon are the newest inductees to the Country Music Hall of Fame. The Country Music Association made the announcement on Wednesday.“In this, the most exclusive of music halls of fame, we now have three new deserving members,” said Kyle Young, Country Music Hall of Fame? and Museum Chief Executive Officer in a news release. “One is the son of one of American music’s greatest masters who became a self-made master of his own. One is a child of tough-town Mississippi who became a force for togetherness, inclusion, and righteous musicality. And the third is an East Tennessee kid who triumphed over a hard youth to write words and melodies that have enriched us all. In a year of turmoil, strife, and dissent, this announcement is something all of us can cheer.”Williams joins his father, country legend Hank Williams Sr., in the Hall of Fame and is known for songs like “All My Rowdy Friends Are Comin' Over Tonight" and "Family Tradition."Williams Sr. was inducted in 1961.Stuart, a five-time Grammy winner, started his career as a sideman backing up Lester Flatt and Johnny Cash before starting his own artist career. 1184
