SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A series of closures are set for Interstate 5 throughout June and possibly into July for Mid-Coast trolley construction.SANDAG says the closures will allow crews to remove and install temporary wooden structures to support the trolley bridge, also called falsework. The falsework currently on Voigt Drive will be removed and installed just south of Nobel Drive to support a second trolley overcrossing. Both trolley overcrossings will span the I-5, SANDAG says.A full closure of southbound I-5 lanes will start on Sunday, June 9, from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night Sunday through Thursday, and will run through Friday, June 28. The closure covers I-5/I-805 interchange to La Jolla Colony Dr. Detours will be set up for motorists to use southbound I-805 and westbound State Route 52 in place of the stretch of I-5.Once the southbound closure is complete, a full northbound closure will be needed.The Mid-Coast trolley will eventually extend the Blue Line trolley from Old Town Transit Center to the UC San Diego area. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A teenager is publicly apologizing after admitting to vandalizing a park in Scripps Ranch last December. Jerabek park was vandalized on December 8, 2018. Days later, the Scripps Ranch Civic Association offered a reward to find the person who vandalized the field. Neighbors said they believed a large truck drove in circles on the field, destroying the turf. In the association’s August newsletter, the unidentified teenager admits to vandalizing the grass. RELATED: Scripps Ranch community offers reward to find vandal who damaged field“I was at the park that night, along with some friends, and we thought it would be cool to drive on the grass,” the teen writes. “This poor decision caused damage that adversely affected many people who use that park and for that I am truly sorry,” the letter continues. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A woman suffered serious injuries from a hit-and-run crash Saturday while walking in the East Village, San Diego Police said.The 47-year-old woman was dragging her wheelchair across F St. at Park Blvd. at 3:55 a.m. when she was struck by a gray or silver Honda heading west.The car was last seen going north on 11th Ave., police said.The victim suffered two broken legs and a pelvic fracture.San Diego Police Traffic Division officers are investigating the case. 494

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Americans are being warned to not eat any romaine lettuce after concerns over a new E-Coli outbreak. At least 32 people in 11 states have gotten sick. One of San Diego’s largest produce suppliers is jumping into action. Speciality Produce supplies hundreds of restaurants and caterers around the county with fresh produce. Owner Bob Harrington says he had to notify each customer about the CDC warning. Harrington says employees went through a list, of about 9 pages, and called customers warning them to throw out all of their romaine. “I think there’s a really good system in place so whenever something like this does happen we can respond really quickly,” says Harrington. Employees spent almost 2 hours calling all of the customers. “I think most companies, like us, practice a couple times a year just to do a dry run to make sure we’re ready to do a recall at a moments notice and finish it within minutes.” Specialty produce has about five to seven different types of romaine in its warehouse. All of them were pulled from the main floor. Harrington says he will replace the romaine from all of his customers with a new green, free of charge. The CDC is not only urging everyone to throw away their romaine but to clean the areas where the green was stored.  1329

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A sign advertising a block party at the home of a registered sex offender is causing concern in Rancho Bernardo.“We would like to invite you and your kids to a neighborhood get together” read the sign, which was posted outside a home on Bernardo Oaks Drive in the Seven Oaks retirement neighborhood this week.“I always keep an eye on that house because I know there’s a registered sex offender that lives there,” said Susan Sutherland.Sutherland told 10News she looked up her community on the Megan’s Law website four years ago and found a listing for a neighbor who had had been convicted of lewd acts on a child under 14, according to Sutherland“I come from a background of abuse. I can’t live with myself if I allow a child to get hurt. I can’t live with that,” Sutherland said.The sign was posted by the contractor who recently renovated the home, which is owned by the man's mother. 10News reached out to Elor Energy, which said it had no prior knowledge of the man's past.
