LAS VEGAS — A Las Vegas woman is suing the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) after she claims she was forced to strip down and remove a "feminine hygiene product" at a Tulsa, Oklahoma airport.According to the complaint, the woman — who has a metal hip implant — was boarding a flight through TSA pre-check through Tulsa International Airport on Mother's Day. Knowing her hip implant would set off a metal detector, she asked to be screened with a body scanner.After she went through the body scanner, TSA agents informed the woman that she would need to submit to a pat down, which the woman agreed to.During the pat down, the agent discovered a "common feminine hygiene product" that she was wearing under her clothes. She was also told that she would need to be escorted to a private room in order to be "cleared."Once in the room, the woman was told to "clear the area" where she was wearing her feminine hygiene product. It's then that she claims TSA agents told her she would need to take down her pants and underwear.The woman initially objected, but later did remove her clothes after being told by agents that she was required to do so.The TSA never requires passengers to submit themselves to a strip search, according to a statement from the agency.After removing her clothes, the woman says she asked agents for permission to leave four times before she was allowed to leave the room..The woman says she is suffering severe emotional distress and says the search violated her rights.TSA and provided the following statement:"Due to pending litigation, we cannot comment on the specifics of this case. INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana health officials confirmed Friday a case of COVID-19 in Indianapolis.Gov. Eric Holcomb has declared a public health emergency in Indiana.The patient is an adult male who recently traveled to Boston for an event, Indiana State Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box said. The man called ahead to the health department and entered Community North Hospital through a side door with health professionals.His contact with others was minimal to none, Community Health Network Physician Dr. Ram Yeleti said. The patient is now in self-isolation and was only at the hospital from about 11:30 p.m. Thursday to 2:30 a.m. Friday.Twelve people have been tested, and another 35 are being monitored for the virus, Box said.What is coronavirus, COVID-19?According to the World Health Organization, coronaviruses are "a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV).A novel coronavirus, such as COVID-19, is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans.COVID-19 was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China and has now been detected in 37 locations across the globe, including in the U.S., according to the CDC.The CDC reports the initial patients in China has some link to a large seafood and live animal market, indicative of animal-to-person spread. Symptoms can include fever, cough, shortness of breath.The CDC said symptoms may appear in as few as two days or as long as 14 days after exposure. It is similar to the incubation period for MERS.Spread of the virus is thought to be mainly from person-to-person. Spread is between people who are in close contact with one another (within about six feet). Spread occurs via respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The droplets can land in the mouths of noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.According to the CDC, it may be possible for a person to get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose or possibly their eyes. Jury selection is scheduled Tuesday in the trial of Michael Rosfeld, a former East Pittsburgh police officer charged in the shooting of 17-year-old Antwon Rose II. The death of the unarmed teenager last year triggered protests and outrage in Pittsburgh over the officer's use of deadly force.On June 19, Rosfeld, 30, shot Antwon three times as he fled a car after a traffic stop. According to Allegheny County police, Antwon was a passenger in a car that authorities suspected of being involved in a nearby shooting. When the officer ordered the driver out of the car, Antwon and another passenger "bolted" from the vehicle, and Rosfeld opened fire, striking the teenager, police said.In response to his death, several groups shut down highways and intersections across Pittsburgh during protests last year, demanding accountability for Antwon's death. He was shot on the right side of his face, right elbow and to the right of his spine."Three shots in the back. Julian Rai spends a lot of time in his car.“Currently, I’m a Lyft driver and I deliver for Grubhub, Postmates, and Doordash and Instacart,” Rai said.With the increasing demand for people to deliver your packages, good, and other items, it’s an industry constantly available with job opportunities, especially with the rise of delivery apps.“I can control my own time,” Rai said. “I can choose not to work if I don’t want to work that day.”“It’s becoming more and more lucrative,” HG Parsa, an economics professor at the University of Denver, said. “In the morning they do Uber. In the afternoon they go to groceries. In the evening they pick up children from school and hospital, then they go home.” He said the flexibility in this type of work can be attractive. But a job like this has its risks.“They do have contact with a lot of people,” Christina Huber, an economist at the Metropolitan State University of Denver, said. “They are really vulnerable. With the rise of coronavirus, it’ll be interesting to see how those industries evolve.”The growing number of COVID-19 cases has woken up the delivery industry to the potential threat.Postmates recently announced a “no contact” option, allowing app users to choose to have their food dropped off somewhere instead of meeting face to face. Rai said this is already happening.“Literally I’ve gotten one. Jackie Wilkinson recently picked up an unknown call at her home.Her cable company was showing on her caller ID, so Wilkinson did what she normally doesn't do with unexpected calls: she answered. "It appeared that Spectrum was calling, our provider for internet, phone and cable services, so I answered, " Wilkinson said.Other customers report receiving similar calls that show up as Cox, Comcast, Xfinity, Charter, Optimum, and others.The caller immediately offered to help lower her bill, so Wilkinson perked up."He asked, 'Do you want to save money?" Wilkinson said. "Naturally, in this day and age, who doesn't want to save money? So I said yes, and he said, 'Great, now tell me how much you are paying.'"But that last comment from the phone rep raised a red flag."These are questions I would think Spectrum would already know," she said. "They can see your billing price right there!"Who was really calling?When the caller then told her she could save money by signing up for a satellite TV service instead, Wilkinson realized it wasn't really Spectrum Cable on the line.Instead, it was a case of "spoofing," where a fake number shows on your caller ID.Scammers have been spoofing the numbers of the FBI and IRS for several years now and getting people to answer the phone that way. It was only natural they'd start pretending to be your cable company.We contacted Spectrum, and the company said it has other complaints about these calls.It recently sent out a warning to customers saying: "If an offer doesn't sound right, customers may ask the representative on the phone to validate they are an employee by looking up their account number. Spectrum representatives will always have an account number." Then call your company (at their customer service number on your bill) and ask if there is any such person working there.Wilkinson just wants to warn others."If you see your cable company calling, you think its important," Wilkinson said. "The phone number appears on your phone as if they are the cable company, so everything seemed legitimate up until the questions." But cable providers never call you to chat about lowering your bill or offering a discount.
