GUATAY, Calif. (KGTV) -- A family in the East County is hoping someone has information about a bicycle accident that happened Saturday afternoon in Guatay, just north of Pine Valley. Ann Larkin says her husband, Warren Larkin, was returning from a bike ride along old Highway 80, and was just feet away from his home, when a good Samaritan found him in the middle of the road. Larkin was airlifted to Sharp Memorial Hopsital with 10 broken ribs, a collapsed lung and a broken clavicle. He doesn't remember anything about the crash.Ann tells 10News she doesn't want to speculate but worries that someone hit her husband on his bike and took off, since hospital staff told her his injuries were more traumatic than just falling off a bike. The Larkin family is now hoping that by sharing their story, they can find someone who witnessed the accident and can provide clues about what happened. 899

Heavy rain caused a central Texas river to rise to a near-record level in about a day, leading to a bridge collapse, flooded homes and evacuations.The Llano River rose to nearly 40 feet Tuesday in the city of Llano -- about 35 feet higher than it was just 24 hours earlier before -- thanks to 8 to 10 inches of rain that fell in the area over the past two days, the National Weather Service said.A few miles away, in Kingsland, the swollen river rushed against the top of the RM 2900 bridge for hours, eventually causing it to collapse, video from CNN affiliate KEYE showed. HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. -- Health officials say there has been a confirmed case of Naegleria fowleri, a brain-eating amoeba, in Hillsborough County, Florida.The amoeba is commonly found in warm freshwater like lakes, rivers, ponds and canals, according to the Department of Health. Infections can happen when the contaminated water enters the body through the nose. The peak season for Naegleria fowleri is July through September. The amoeba is found is more common in the southern states, DOH said.Infection is very rare in Florida, as there have been only 37 reported cases with exposure in the state since 1962, according to DOH.
