JAMUL, Calif. (KGTV) - A Jamul family is mourning the loss from COVID-19 of a former little league coach and employee at Taylor Guitars.Greg Denny came down with a sinus headache in the second week of June. A trip to the ER revealed double pneumonia. Then came a positive COVID-19 test and fever, before his wife Kim brought him back to the hospital.“Five days of fever, hadn't been able to break it. He was at 102°,” said Kim Denny.A week after Greg was admitted, he was placed on a ventilator.“It was very emotional, like a roller coaster. Good one day and then things changed that same day,” she said.Eventually, the bad days took over. His kidneys failed. So did his pancreas. Then he got a blood infection. Last Friday, Greg — an Army veteran, father of two and grandfather of four — passed away at the age of 48.“He was my soulmate, my best friend and now he's my guardian angel,” she said.Kim calls her husband a wonderful dad and grandfather.“He’s the best man I’ve ever known,” said Dillon Wulff, Greg’s adult son.For the last five years, Greg has worked in security at Taylor Guitars. For more than two decades, he has coached or volunteered for little league games in Spring Valley.In her time of grief, Kim takes comfort in the daily game they played called, "I love you more."“Whoever said it first would win. So constantly, he'd get up and say, ‘I love you more.’ I'd get up and say, ‘I love you more,’" said Kim.They would play that game until the day he went on the ventilator.As for where the origin of the COVID-19, she has no idea. He always wore masks.“My husband was very safe … So, it’s scary. People need to take every precaution that they can,” said Kim.Greg did have an underlying condition: high blood pressure. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City, Missouri Health Department is speaking out after it poured bleach on food intended to be given to homeless people.Nellie McCool, who helps run Free Hot Soup Kansas City, has been helping the homeless for years until Sunday."Officers and health inspectors demanded we destroy our food and we were violating health code violations by sharing meals with our friends," said McCool.The department said the group wasn't following the law about serving the homeless."They were notified back in a meeting in September that they needed to get a permit and they just outright said they refused to do that," said Dr. Rex Archer, director of health for KCMO.But McCool said she never heard from the department."That is incorrect," McCool said. "We never had any kind of government official ever come and speak with anybody at any of the public parks."According to the health department, the permit is free and all organizations that want to serve food to homeless people (or anyone) needs this permit. Archer said the food was also not being handled correctly and could put others at risk."Preparing food in all these individuals homes when people haven't been trained, prepare food safely. Then, they are taking it and transporting it in trunks of cars when its cool. It's supposed to be warm food but they have no insulation or a way to keep the food warm," Archer said. 1424

(KGTV) — Neighbors in a rural East County town are once again fighting the possible release of a sexually violent predator into their community.Currently, the Department of State Hospitals is considering Thomas Cornwell as the next new resident of the Jacumba Hot Springs area. Jacob says the individuals should, instead, be kept behind bars."As far as I'm concerned, they gave up their right to freedom when they preyed on our young and most vulnerable. They don't belong in any town. They belong behind bars," Jacob said in a statement.Since 2015, nine of 12 sexually violent predators in the county have been released into the East County. Five of 12 have violated the conditions of their release. Four have been returned to a state mental institution.Cornwell's release hasn't been finalized. Juliana Hart said it's something she's never seen before and thought it was "kind of comical" to witness Disney cast members remove a snake from the entrance to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. It's like it was something from the movie, "Jungle Book!"
