(KGTV) - Neighbors in Bonsall who survived the Lilac Fire are anxious about the impending hot, dry, windy weekend.The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Wildfire Warning starting at 10 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday."With it being so hot the next couple days yeah I'm pretty much on high alert," Neighbor Kimberly Marrs said.She was there in December 2017 when her neighborhood lit up. She said homes a quarter mile away burned down.The Lilac fire burned 4,100 acres, destroyed 114 houses and damaged 55, and killed more than 45 horses according to fire officials.Giving Marrs reason to be hyper-aware, "I'm super diligent. I'm always looking at the sky and paying attention... Especially when it gets this extremely hot, especially having gone through the lilac fire, in the middle of it, I get a lot of anxiety from it and that's why I stay on top of it because I want to be super prepared."She said Saturday morning she is going to fill up her gas tank and coordinate with friends so everyone is ready to evacuate at a moments' notice. Another concern she has this weekend is the power staying on."I'll charge everything up in the morning and pull all the plugs in the afternoon... I think there's going to be a just a huge surge in power this weekend so we need to not blow the grid," she said smiling.The California Independent Systems Operator (CAISO), which manages the state's electric grid, issued a Flex Alert for the weekend. They're telling people to avoid heavy energy usage between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. from Friday through Monday.Marrs hopes everyone takes her message as motivation to stay safe this weekend, "pray we don't have extreme Santa Anas, we get through this heat wave, stay cool, stay indoors, stay hydrated." 1764

Both President Donald Trump and President-elect Joe Biden offered their support on Thursday of a 0 billion stimulus plan hatched between a bipartisan group of moderate senators earlier this week.Trump said on Thursday he would sign the bill if it passes through Congress.“I think they’re getting very close and I want it to happen,” Trump said from the Oval Office.Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell offered optimism that an agreement is within reach."Compromise is within reach,” he said from the Senate floor on Thursday. “We know where we agree, we can do this. Let me say it again--we can do this. And we need to do this."Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer seemed less certain of a potential compromise.“For some reason, in the midst of this generational crisis, Republican Leader McConnell does not seem inclined to compromise,” Schumer said. “To actually get something done. But what he wants to do is posture. To put partisan bills on the floor and say take it or leave it. The real answer here is to sit down and talk."During an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on Thursday, Biden said that Democrats should support the bill, even though he says the legislation does not go far enough.“That would be a good start. It’s not enough,” Biden told Tapper.Biden has promised a larger stimulus package once taking office in January. While Democrats will hold the White House and House of Representatives, it’s still unknown who will control the Senate. Georgia will have a pair of run-off elections in January. Democrats will need to win both races in order to allow Vice President-elect Kamala Harris to cast the tiebreaking vote in a 50/50 Senate. The proposal would provide 0 in additional unemployment benefits for up to 18 weeks. The legislation also would replenish funds for the Paycheck Protection Program and for small businesses to help make payroll as a number of companies are being forced to close to help combat the spread of the coronavirus. The current proposal calls for 8 billion to go toward support for small businesses.There would also be 0 billion earmarked for state and local governments, which have seen a drop in tax revenue due to the pandemic. There is in additional billion allocated toward the transportation industry, most notably for airlines, which have seen an over 50% reduction in business since March.However for Americans hoping to see a second stimulus check, this bill comes short on that aspect.Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said that talks of direct payments to Americans are dead at the moment. BLOOMINGTON — The mother of an Indiana University football player who is battling COVID-19 wants everyone to realize the importance of wearing a mask and practicing social distancing.Brady Feeney is a freshman offensive lineman for the Hooisers from St. Louis. His mother, Debbie Rucker, took to Facebook Monday with a plea: Take COVID-19 seriously, wear a mask and exercise social distancing.Feeney is battling the virus as questions remain on whether the college football season will be played this fall. The Big Ten announced it plans on playing a conference-only schedule this fall. With her son's permission, Rucker shared his story:My son was negative when he got tested at the beginning of volunteer workouts. Within three weeks he and multiple others tested positive. His university has done everything right by shutting down workouts and retesting the whole team.Unfortunately this virus hit my son very hard compared to most of his teammates. Here was a kid in perfect health, great physical condition and due to the virus ended up going to the ER because of breathing issues.After 14 days of hell battling the horrible virus, his school did additional testing on all those that were positive. My son even received extra tests because he was one of the worst cases. Now we are dealing with possible heart issues!He is still experiencing additional symptoms and his blood work is indicating additional problems. Bottom line, even if your son’s schools do everything right to protect them, they CAN’T PROTECT THEM!!I pray my son recovers from this horrible virus and can lead a healthy normal life!! BELLEVILLE, Mich. — A Good Samaritan was placed in a bad situation on a metro Detroit highway. Now his close call is going viral on social media while also alerting motorists to beware and trust your instincts. It was around 10 p.m. on Sunday when John Hadyniak of Belleville, Michigan  was heading home driving down I-94. When he got near Belleville road, he saw a woman on the side of the road changing a flat tire. Hadyniak's first thought was to stop and give her a hand, then his red flag radar lit up like the Fourth of July. The trunk on the car was closed, said Hadyniak, who is also a mechanic, and he noticed there was no plate on the trunk of the car. "I noticed that there was no jack and she had a tire iron in her hand," Hadyniak said. "Things didn't add up. It was just a bad feeling."He listened to that gut feeling and pulled out a flashlight and shined it on the woman. "I put the flashlight on her when I got out of the car," he said. "And about 15 feet off the side of the road there was a guy laying in the grass. I hit him with the light. He got up and jumped in the car and took off down I-94"In that moment, Hadyniak thought of what could have transpired. Those "what ifs" are still swirling around in his head. "Worse case scenario, I could have got bopped in the head with that, laid dead on the side of the expressway," he said. "(They could have) robbed me, stole my car – everything. If I wouldn't have seen him, it would have been bad news."Hadyniak posted the phonies foiled plan on Facebook with a warning to folks to be smart and beware. He also contacted the cops and gave them a description of the car – a silver Nissan Sentra.  1736
