Its windows are completely covered by brown paper, and the door is shut.But on the other side of those coverings, it's very much business as usual."I have the right to at least fight for my business," said owner Meagan Crowell.Crowell said she could not stomach another closure. She said she only got a ,000 federal Paycheck Protection Program loan, and no other stimulus benefits to help get through."I have two kids," she said. "They are two and four years old and I'm not going to sit back and allow them not to eat."Crowell says she takes the virus very seriously - and that she dipped into her savings to make her salon COVID safe and keep the lights on. But those efforts are still not enough for the governor's new shutdown order, which says salons must close as ICU capacity continues to decrease.And other than two clients rescheduling, Crowell says she's completely booked."I want you to always love the person you see in the mirror, and I think mental health is a huge, huge issue," she said.Meanwhile, the county has served nearly 30 restaurants, bars, gyms and religious organizations with cease and desist orders since the shutdown took effect Monday. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Flames shot out a window of a Spring Valley apartment that caught fire Thursday morning.The fire broke out at the home in the 10,000 block of Austin Drive about 10 a.m.No one was injured but the family who lives there says their cat died in the fire."I heard the beep beep beep and ran up the stairs," said Jacquline Amey, "I looked in the other room it was all smoky - opened the closet and it was engulfed in flames."San Miguel, Heartland, La Mesa firefighters and the San Diego Sheriff’s Department assisted in the emergency.The cause of the fire remains under investigation.  636

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Heavy rains and wind across San Diego County hit one Coronado business particularly hard.The Coronado Tree Farm had only been open for about a week before Thursday's Grinch of a storm rolled through the area, heavily damaging the small farm at the ferry landing. The farm posted on Facebook that it would have to close for the season, before it could fully deliver some Christmas joy."Sad to say that the Tree Farm has to be closed down," the farm wrote. "The rain destroyed all our inventory and commercial props, generator, hay, games, prizes, tables, fencing, tents etc... We would have to start all over again in order to run it."Steve Albert, co-owner of the Coronado Flower Lady, told 10News they tried to curtail any damages but the weather simply took hold."I started trying to get everything I could under the big tent, and while I was doing that, one would break lose, and then another one," Albert said. "The whole thing is just kind of anchored together. The whole thing just went."Some of the trees and decorations are in good condition and will be offered up to anyone.
