Three Metro-North Railroad workers have been suspended for turning a storage room under Manhattan's Grand Central Terminal into an unauthorized “man cave” with a television, a refrigerator, a microwave, a futon couch and more.A Metropolitan Transportation Authority Inspector General investigation found that Metro-North managers were unaware of the hideaway in a storage room located behind a locked door, beneath Track 114.Railroad officials said Thursday that a wireman, a carpenter foreman and an electrical foreman have been suspended without pay pending disciplinary hearings.Inside the room, investigators found personal property and evidence that implicated the three employees. This included a receipt with the wireman's name on it, a streaming device connected to a hotspot associated with the carpenter foreman's phone, personal calendars, and a pull-up bar with a shipping sticker reading the name of the electrical foreman. The Office of the MTA Inspector General launched the investigation after learning of complaints about the room from anonymous tips, the MTA said.Metro-North President Catherine Rinaldi released the following statement Thursday: The behavior described in the IG’s report is outrageously inappropriate and is not consistent with Metro-North’s values and the commitment that we have to providing safe, reliable and cost-efficient service to our customers. All three employees were immediately suspended without pay and are being disciplined in accordance with their collective bargaining agreements. Officials said the hidden space presented a fire hazard because rescue workers would have had difficulty accessing an unmapped room. Mark Sundstrom contributed to this report, originally appearing on PIX11.com. 1777

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul has introduced a bill to ban no-knock warrants nationwide in the wake of Breonna Taylor's shooting death in Louisville. The "Justice for Breonna Taylor" Act bans federal law enforcement officers from forcing themselves into someone's home without announcing their authority or purpose. Taylor, a 26-year-old EMT from Louisville, was killed during a police raid on her home back in March, which was conducted under the authority of a no-knock warrant. It would also require the same of any state or local law enforcement agency that receives funds from the Department of Justice."After talking with Breonna Taylor's family, I've come to the conclusion that it's long past time to get rid of no-knock warrants," said Sen. Paul in a statement. "This bill will effectively end no-knock raids in the United States."The City of Louisville has since banned the use of no-knock warrants after Taylor's death and named the new ordinance after her. The Louisville Metro Council unanimously voted Thursday night to ban the controversial warrants after days of protests and calls for reform.According to NPR, the law requires police to wear body cameras when serving warrants and turn them on five minutes before entering a person's home. Taylor's mother, Tamika Palmer, said the new law would save lives. No charges have been filed in connection to Taylor's death. This story was first published by WLEX's Jordan Mickle. 1473

A now-5-year-old pit bull is back home with its owner after disappearing two-and-a-half years ago."This is a picture of her on the couch on Christmas," said Savannah Rastrelli, as she reminisced about her dog, Sugar. "This was in 2016."Rastrelli said one day after roaming their 45-acre lot, Sugar never returned."I posted on Martin County lost and found pets, lost and found pets of the Treasure Coast," said Rastrelli.Nobody ever answered the plea for help until this week, when the Port St. Lucie Police Department received a call of a stray dog.The dog was wandering around the 1400 block of Southwest Del Rio Boulevard, more than 20 miles from where Sugar disappeared."It really is remarkable," said Port St. Lucie police Sgt. Keith Boham.Boham said animal control officers were able to scan Sugar's microchip and identify the owner. Derek Lowe "With a microchip, we have the ability to scan the dog or pet and locate you in the event that your animal goes missing," said Boham. Now reunited with her long-lost furry friend, Rastrelli said their story is proof that even when all hope is lost, it can still be found."I'm really happy we were able to get that call," said Rastrelli. "It's like we have a light back into our lives, a nice light." This story originally reported by Derek Lowe on wptv.com. 1360
