A North Carolina college student has been arrested and charged after authorities found two guns in his dorm room and he reportedly confessed to plans to carry out a shooting.Paul Arnold Steber, a 19-year-old freshman at High Point University, faces two felony counts of weapons on campus or educational property and one count of making a threat of mass violence, High Point Police said. He's being held without bond for 10 days, during which time he must have a mental evaluation, police said.Steber's attorney did not immediately respond to CNN's request for comment.Steber, of Boston, is one of dozens of suspects arrested over mass attack threats since mass shootings this month in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio. In the week after the shootings, the FBI got more than 38,000 tips, up from the typical 22,000 tips per week this year.Steber was arrested Tuesday after other students told school officials that Steber had two guns and ammunition in his dorm room, police and university officials said in news releases.Steber had a 9mm semi-automatic pistol and a double-barrel 12-gauge shotgun, police said.He confessed to having "a timeline to 'kill people,'" 1176

American Airlines plans to cancel flights well into April because of the Boeing 737 Max grounding.American, the world's largest airline, said Sunday it is canceling about 90 flights a day out through April 24. Before Sunday's announcement, American had only canceled flights through March 28.The airline is hopeful that that the 737 Max planes will be flying again soon, but said it is canceling flights about a month out as it waits for word from the Federal Aviation Administration."Canceling in advance provides additional availability and rebooking options for our customers," said the statement from American. The global fleet of 371 of the 737 Max jets was grounded indefinitely on March 13 after two of the planes had fatal crashes. A Lion Air flight crashed in October and an Ethiopian Airlines flight crashed on March 10.The causes of the crashes have yet to be determined but the focus has been on an automatic safety feature which may have forced the nose of each plane lower when it incorrectly believed the plane was in danger of going into a stall.Boeing and the FAA said they are working on an upgrade of its software to deal with that safety feature. Boeing said at the time of the grounding that it expected that update to be available "within weeks."American has 24 of the 737 Max 8 jets. But not every flight which had been scheduled to have a 737 Max has been canceled. American said it has rearranged its schedule to use other aircraft to complete some of those flights."We have balanced [cancellations] across our system," said the airline. It said both international and domestic flights are affected. "We will vary by day as we look to impact the fewest number of customers."American operates 3,300 flights its mainline system daily on average, and another 3,400 through regional carriers and partner airlines.Other carriers are not canceling nearly that far out.Southwest Airlines, which has 34 737 Max jets, said it is only canceling five days out at this point. It said it is also trying to rework the schedule to affect the fewest possible number of customers. 2099

Actress Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli will appear in court in Boston on Tuesday afternoon for a hearing related to the charges against them in the college admissions scam.Loughlin and Giannulli, a fashion designer, are accused of paying 0,000 to a fake charity to get their two daughters accepted into the University of Southern California, falsely designating them as crew team recruits. The hearing will address potential conflicts of interest regarding their attorneys in the case. Both Loughlin and Giannulli have chosen to be jointly represented by attorneys from the firm Latham & Watkins, which could potentially threaten their case should any conflicts arise between the two.Different attorneys from Latham & Watkins have previously represented USC in an unrelated real-estate case, but those representing the couple maintain that this has not, and will not affect their case. The law firm has created an "ethical wall" between the cases, prohibiting the attorneys and staff working on Loughlin and Giannulli's case from discussing it with those who worked on the USC matter, according to court documents.Additional attorneys representing the couple are also from law firms whose clientele include other defendants in the larger college admissions scam, all allegedly connected to college admissions prep company CEO William "Rick" Singer. Loughlin and Giannulli will be asked whether they feel any of these factors could result in conflicts of interest.Loughlin's previous court appearances have been met with a small dose of fan frenzy, with admirers screaming "Aunt Becky!" outside a Boston federal courthouse when she arrived for an initial appearance in April, flanked by bodyguards. Loughlin played the role of Rebecca "Becky" Katsopolis in the TV sitcom "Full House" for seven years and reprised the role in the affiliated reboot "Fuller House" beginning in 2016.Loughlin and Giannulli have pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Each charge is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.Their daughters, Isabella and Olivia, were recruited as coxswains at USC, though they did not row competitively or otherwise participate in crew, according to their criminal complaint. The parents even sent Singer photos of each daughter on an ergometer, the rowing machine, the complaint says.Brands have distanced themselves from Loughlin and daughter Olivia in the wake of the scandal. The Hallmark Channel severed ties with Loughlin in March, shortly after the charges were made public. Two high-level crisis management executives told CNN in May that they were approached by the couple to help improve their public image following news of their involvement in the college admissions scam. 2795
