ESCONDIDO, Calif., (KGTV)-- Residents in Escondido shared their concerns Wednesday about the flooding on Country Club Drive.Neighbors said after every rain event, the street floods and closes, which creates not only an inconvenience but a safety hazard. There is no stop sign on Country Club Drive. But Jason Farr is at a stand-still. "I can't get in and out of our neighborhood," Farr said. Check 10News Pinpoint Weather ConditionsFarr and his family moved into the neighborhood a few months ago. They have already experienced the notorious flooding. Farr's concern is that Country Club Drive is the only way in and out of his community."If emergency crews need to get here… If there are a couple of feet of water on top of the bridge, that's one thing, but if there's more like I saw yesterday, they just won't be able to get in and out," Farr said. He said he has several elderly neighbors who no longer have the strength or speed to evacuate at once. The flooding also trap his children from getting to school. "We have to be constantly be deciding if we want to bring our kids to school. Because I do not feel comfortable dropping my kids off to school and them not being able to be picked up," Farr said. While the water receded overnight, by 8:30 AM Wednesday the water crested back over the road. Farr said his neighbors told him that the severity of the problem got much worse as new developments sprouted into the once lonely neighborhood. All the drainage is being funneled down hill,” Farr said. “We’re just the end of the hill, and we're paying the price for it."Farr said while this is a flooding issue now, come summer, this one way in, one way out street to his community will become a fire hazard. Roger Rowe School third-graders Grace Miller and Madison Stine set out to send a veteran to Washington D.C. with Honor Flight San Diego.They were so successful they ended up sending two veterans."That trip for me was the most fantastic trip of my life. I've been all over the world - and Honor Flight was the most fantastic trip I've been on," said George Sousa, a Korean War veteran who served in the U.S. Army.The girls also helped send U.S. Marine Corps Veteran Marshall Varano who also fought in the Korean War."It's great to see young people like this take care of older folks," said Varano.Fundraising is critical for Honor Flight San Diego. Federal agents who have clashed with protesters in Portland, Oregon, will begin a “phased withdrawal” from Oregon’s largest city, Gov. Kate Brown said Wednesday. The withdrawal of Customs and Border Protection and ICE officers could begin as soon as Thursday.In a tweet, Brown said "After my discussions with VP Pence and others, the federal government has agreed to withdraw federal officers from Portland. Federal authorities say a U.S. airman with ties to the "boogaloo" right-wing extremist movement killed a federal security officer outside a federal courthouse near San Francisco. Air Force Staff Sgt. Steven Carrillo was charged Tuesday with murdering federal officer David Patrick Underwood and attempted murder of another officer during a night of violent protests in Oakland on May 29. Carrillo separately faces state charges in the fatal shooting and ambush of a Santa Cruz County sheriff's deputy and the wounding of four other officers on June 6. Carrillo is expected to enter a plea to the state charges on Wednesday. 631

(KGTV) -- One of San Diego's few remaining glassblowing studios is on a mission to preserve the art and keep the glassblowing tradition strong for generations to come.“I believe we have to preserve 6,000 years of history," said James Stone, owner of Stone and Glass in Escondido.When Stone opened his shop in 2001 there were 21 studios in San Diego; today there are just four left.He says running a shop is difficult and expensive, but well worth the effort.“The knowledge is hard fought for, hard fought to know how to do this.
