CHULA VISTA (CNS) - Four people were displaced when a fire damaged their South Bay home Sunday morning, authorities said.Dispatchers were alerted at about 9:20 a.m. to a fire at a house near the intersection of Madden and Donax avenues, according to the San Diego Police Department. The area is just west of Beyer Boulevard.Firefighters found a small fire in the attic, and were able to get everyone out of the house and extinguish the flames, a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department official said. The cause of the fire wasn't immediately known. The Red Cross was called to assist with finding shelter for the home's occupants, the Fire-Rescue official said. 662

(CNS) - The body of a woman who apparently had been shot to death was found Wednesday in a patch of shrubbery near the Otay River.A passer-by made the discovery in a field behind a Smart & Final store in the 3100 block of Main Street in Chula Vista about 6:30 a.m., according to police.Preliminary evidence at the scene -- notably, spent shell casings -- indicated that the woman, whose identity was not immediately available but police described her as a Hispanic woman in her 20's, was slain, Lt. (KGTV) -- A carjacking and pursuit led to a deadly officer-involved shooting in Chula Vista Monday evening.According to Chula Vista police, the incident happened around 5:30 p.m. on the 900 block of Rutgers Avenue.Police say the incident began when officers spotted a suspect wanted for attempted murder and observed him as he carjacked a blue pickup truck at gunpoint near Main Street and Maxwell Road.The suspect, later identified as 33-year-old David Angulo, was a documented gang member wanted in connection with three shootings in the area and was considered a danger to the community by police.According to police, officers tried to conduct a traffic stop, but instead the suspect led officers on a chase into eastern Chula Vista. On Rutgers Avenue at Otay Lakes Road, the pickup truck crashed into a vehicle with a person inside. That individual was taken to the hospital with injuries believed to be serious.Following the crash, police say the suspect got out of the wreckage and tried to enter a house with a family inside. At some point, gunfire was exchanged between the suspect and officers. "It appears Mr. Angulo turned back to the officers. It's my understanding he pointed a weapon at the officers," Chula Vista police Lt. Dan Peak said. "It does appear some shots were fired at the officers and the officers returned fire."Peak added they're still investigating who fired the first shot.Chula Vista police say three officers fired their weapons, fatally injuring the suspect. Peak says medical aid was given to the suspect, but he died at the scene.The officers involved in the shooting haven't been identified at this time. (KGTV) — A South Bay mother was alarmed to find a man standing over her daughter's bed early Saturday.Police say the mom discovered the strange man just after 6:30 a.m. standing over her 10-year-old daughter as she slept at their home on Madison Ave. The man ran past the mom and out the back door, running south on Madison Ave., police added.The woman's daughter was not harmed.
