Former Vice President Joe Biden revealed on Tuesday that his family is on board with a 2020 run and he's "very close" to making a decision in his most direct comments to date about his thinking on jumping into the campaign.Speaking at the University of Delaware, Biden said that he has discussed a run with his family, including his grandchildren, noting that the "most important people in my life want me to run.""The first hurdle for me was deciding whether or not I am comfortable taking the family through what would be a very, very difficult campaign. No matter who runs, it's a very difficult campaign," he said, mentioning both the Democratic primary and a possible general election match-up against President Donald Trump."I'm certain about where the family is," he added. "But the second piece is that I don't want this to be a fool's errand and I want to make sure that if we do this -- and we're very close to getting to a decision -- that I am fully prepared to do it."At one point someone in the audience shouted, "Oh God, just say yes!""We're in the final stages of that decision but it would be the greatest honor of my life to be president of the United States, but also it is something that I have to make sure that I could run a first rate effort to do this and make clear where I think the country should go and how to get there." 1361
From coffee to energy drinks, there are plenty of caffeinated beverages claiming to keep you going throughout the day. Now, gum companies are putting out products to give you that jolt."Chewing gum on a whole has been on a slow decline...but if you separate the category of functional gum, they are on a steep increase," said Boyd Wilkinson with Apollo Gum. From gum to help you quit smoking or to lose weight, to now gum with CBD, functional gum can be found at nearly every grocery store."Chewing gum makes the perfect delivery system for any active ingredient that's included," said Wilkinson. Wilkinson says the latest product gaining mainstream popularity is energy gum."Energy gum is a combination of active ingredients like natural caffeine and B vitamins that we put in a regular non-sugar zyletol sweetened shell," said Wilkinson.American’s love their caffeine. About 90 percent consumes it in some way every day, according to a recent study from Kuakini Health System."Apollo Gum has about 80 milligrams of caffeine in it, which is equivalent to a small cup of coffee," said Wilkinson. That’s a similar amount to other energy gums on the market right now. "If your caffeine intake is around 100 milligrams to 400 milligrams a day, that's pretty safe," said Rose Medical dietitian Jessica Crandall Snyder. Snyder says while caffeine in moderation is not bad for you, it can cause problems in some cases."You may have an increase of tachycardia or increase in heart-rate and dehydration,” said Snyder. “It can also impact you digestively."While the caffeine is a functional additive, Boyd says that no matter the type of gum, it offers other benefits. Evidence shows it helps reduce stress, heightens focus and enhances memory recall."Maybe I can get the cognitive benefits from the chewing that are absent from all the ways I’ve consumed caffeine from the past and get that boost beyond just the caffeine," said Wilkinson. 1942

Hope Forti says her husband was many things — but most importantly, a father."He wanted his first identity to be a dad and a foster dad," she said. The couple has a son, Max, and were foster parents to four other children. Two weeks ago, Forti found out she was pregnant. "It was very important to him that we normalize the idea that people need to be involved in foster care or in some way of helping children and families who need it."Kyle John Forti was one of the four Americans killed in a helicopter crash in Kenya Sunday. The US Embassy identified two others as Anders Asher Jesiah Burke and Brandon Howe Stapper. The pilot of the helicopter, Mario Magonga, was also killed. The helicopter crashed Sunday night in the Central Island National Park in Lake Turkana, on the country's northern border, Kenya's Civil Aviation Authority said.A local news outlet reported that two helicopters had taken tourists to the island, which borders Ethiopia and is known for its colony of Nile crocodiles. The other helicopter landed safely, Kenyan police said."We offer our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of all those killed in the crash. We are providing all appropriate consular assistance to the families of the American citizens," an Embassy spokesperson said in a statement to CNN.A father, an inspirationKyle Forti would have turned 30 in August, his wife said. He was a political consultant who always had a way of bringing out the best in people, Hope Forti said. "I feel like we became one, because of the way he loved me and communicated with me. He thought life comes through relationships," she told CNN. "He did that with hundreds and hundreds of people that understood that from him, (that's why) we're so surrounded with love right now."The two met in high school, when Hope decided to add Kyle as a friend on Facebook."I thought he was lovely and cute and thought right away 'this is going to be it,'" she said. They had been together since then, for 12 years. She said she last talked to him a day before the crash, and had felt uneasy about him going on the trip."I never know if that's me just being a homebody or stressed or nervous," she said. Before he left, she and their son crafted a note for Kyle and hid it secretly in his luggage, to remind him they loved him, she said.Kyle Forti was in Kenya to spend time with Burke, who had recently purchased land in Kenya and invited friends out for a visit, Hope Forti said.An "entrepreneur at heart"In a statement, Burke's family said Kenya was the 28-year-old's favorite place on Earth. Burke described it as the closest thing to heaven on earth, a "transcendent experience," his family said.He was originally from San Diego, according to CNN affiliate KSWB.Burke's best friend in high school, Francis Pedraza, said Burke was one of the most brilliant, talented people he knew. He had charisma -- winning national competitions in speech -- and was very interested in politics throughout high school, participating and helping in several candidates' campaigns, Pedraza said. Later, he started a digital marketing agency."He lived with fearless courage and a passion for experiencing all of life's adventures," Burke's family said in their statement."He was born a leader with a unique ability to build teams, streamline and connect. He worked to find others' strengths, develop them, and unleash unlimited potential. His draw was nothing short of magnetic and his energy was palpable."A loving brotherStapper, who also had been invited to Kenya by Burke, would want to be known for being "a self-made entrepreneur," his brother Brett Stapper told KSWB.He said his brother was his "best friend and more like a father," since their father died when they were both young.Stapper had posted pictures of the trip to Instagram, thanking Burke."I thought I'd seen Africa before but this was truly next level," he posted. "We got in our three helicopters and just took off -- landing in places humans haven't been before, jumping out into the Indian Ocean, and flying over local tribes who probably thought we were aliens.""Pictures don't even come close to covering how amazing this trip was," he posted. 4218
Farmers around the country are coming up with unique ways to make money and keep their farms thriving. They are resorting to agritourism.“Our primary income is from agritourism, not from farming and ranching,” says Dori Dejong, who is part owner of the Platte River Fort Farm.Although her land is ideal for farming, she explains it would be difficult to sustain the property on ranching alone.“We would probably only make ,000 to ,000 a year is my guess,” Dejong says.To make more money, they decided to offer a rusting stay for visitors inside a yurt, tent or even have a place to get married. They plan on making anywhere from 0,000 to 0,000 next year because of their new agritourism business model.Agritourism has become a way for farmers to keep their land. Professor Dawn Thilmany teaches a course on it, educating students on lodging management, culinary tourism, destination development and ways to make your business different than others.“We see it being anywhere from having a pick-your-own orchard or field on your farm to hosting events like farm dinners or preserving classes to dude ranches where people want to get away for a whole week or two,” Thilmany says. Not everyone is looking for an expansion as big as Dori Dejong.“Over the years we learned that our customers want a place to enjoy and experience farming,” says Amy Kafka with Garden Sweet.Kafka offers date nights and yoga classes on her flower farm and fruit farm.“The combination of all the events and things that we do bring in more people,” Kafka says.If you want to grow what matters, Dejong says “find your passion not something that’s going to make money.” 1663
