CAMPO, Calif. (KGTV) - Campo Elementary School students were forced off a school bus after a man stormed onto the bus armed with two knives.Matthew Barker, 37, of Campo, was arrested by San Diego Sheriff's Department after he boarded the bus packed with students at an apartment complex near Jeb Stuart Rd. Friday around 8:30 a.m., according to Mountain Empire Unified School District superintendent Kathy Granger and SDSO.SDSO said Barker entered the bus and was immediately told by the driver to leave. Barker ignored the driver and continued up the stairs and toward students before the driver got in front of him.As Barker tried to push past the driver, a grandmother of one of the students saw what was happening and got onto the bus to help the driver, SDSO said. That's when Barker reportedly pulled out a knife and swung at the driver. As the driver and grandmother struggled with Barker, an older student ushered students to the back exit of the school bus and called to nearby parents for help. The students were able to exit out of the bus unharmed.Another good Samaritan then got on the bus, at which point Barker turned the knife on himself, according to SDSO. The Samaritan pried the knife away from Barker and pulled him off the bus as deputies arrived.Barker has been charged with felony assault. SDSO is investigating the incident and believes drugs were a factor in the attack. The bus driver and Samaritans were not injured."We take safety very seriously and want to assure you our buses remain a safe form of transportation for getting children to and from school," Granger said in a statement.Counselors will be at the elementary school Tuesday to offer students support if needed, she added. 1759

CANON CITY, Colo. (AP) — A Colorado woman suspected of trying to sell three human fetuses from the 1920s and a fetal skeleton online has been indicted in California on charges of violating a U.S. law prohibiting the transfer of human fetal tissue.Emily Suzanne Cain, 38, pleaded not guilty to charges Tuesday, KUSA-TV reported .The case has been delayed until Nov. 20 in U.S. District Court in San Francisco, according to court records. The fetuses are believed to be from stillborn infants from the 1920s, court records said.Cain attempted in October 2018 to mail a package from Canon City in central Colorado to an address in the United Kingdom, according to a criminal complaint. The package, labeled "school teaching aids and T-shirts," caught the attention of U.S. Postal Service workers who noticed there was no signature on a customs form certifying the package did not contain dangerous contents, authorities said in the complaint. An X-ray of the package revealed a human-like shape, according to U.S. customs agents at the San Francisco International Airport cited in the complaint.Cain posted on Facebook that she acquired the fetuses from a university lab collection and was selling them for ,000, the complaint said. The specimens were traced to Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, the complaint said.University policy calls for specimens that are no longer needed to be cremated and not sold, university officials told investigators. The university is cooperating with authorities, a spokesperson said.Cain was first arrested in Fort Collins and released on a ,000 bond with a GPS monitor.A phone number for Cain could not immediately be located. 1674

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation says a deal Eastman Kodak landed to bolster US-produced drug supply is now on hold due to "recent allegations of wrongdoing."It was announced July 28 that Kodak would receive a 5 million federal loan to aid the U.S. in reducing its reliance on other countries for ingredients used in generic drugs.“We must never be reliant on a foreign nation for America’s medical or other needs,” President Donald Trump said at the White House.Kodak's stock price surged prior to the announcement being made, which led to questions of the possibility of insider trading. The Wall Street Journal is reporting the SEC has opened a probe. In a tweet Friday, the DFC released a statement saying in part that it will not proceed further until the allegations of wrongdoing are cleared. 853

CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) - Two teenagers were stopped in their tracks when they looked into a tree and found a creature looking back at them along a Carlsbad street. Two Fridays ago, around 10:30 a.m., a freshman college student did a double take while walking along Babilonia Street in the La Costa area. He called a friend, who drove right over. They made a quick recording."Omigod, look at him," one of the teens is heard whispering in the video.Perched in a tree, about 25 feet up, was a mountain lion, growling. The mother of one of the teens tells ABC 10News soon after they stopped recording, they looked up, and it was gone.Lauren DuBois of Project Wildlife at the San Diego Humane Society, says it's hard to tell the big cat whether the mountain lion was a juvenile or an adult. She says it's not surprising it was in a tree."Not unusual at all. They will climb trees, and rest in trees quite often," said DuBois.Dubois says it was likely relaxing after a long night."They can have up to 100 square miles of a territory. Most of time they are hunting from dusk to dawn, so a lot of the time, that’s where (tree) they will be resting," said DuBois. The concern? Less than half a mile away, is La Costa Meadows Elementary School, which began in-person learning in October.Neighbors tell us there have been sightings of a mountain lion in nearby Box Canyon for years. One of those neighbors did file a report of the most recent sighting with state Fish and Wildlife officials.DuBois say this big cat wasn't being aggressive. What about the growl?"Hey, I’m up here. Don’t want you to be there. I'm going to take off now," said Dubois. She says if you ever do spy a mountain lion in a tree, slowly back away and maintain eye contact."It's probably going to just leave. If it does come after you, make yourself large and make noise," said Dubois.ABC 10News reached out to the elementary school and Fish and Wildlife officials, and are waiting to hear back. 1962
