SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are searching for a suspect after a man was shot and killed in San Diego’s El Cerrito neighborhood late Saturday night, San Diego Police say.Police were called to the 5700 block of El Cajon Boulevard just after 11 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a possible shooting in the area.When they arrived, officers found a man with an apparent gunshot to the head. He was taken to the hospital where he later died, according to police.Little is known about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but police say the victim was involved in a fight with the suspect, identified as Joseph Mehlenbacher, 18.“Mehlenbacher and the gun are still outstanding. He is considered armed and dangerous,” police said in a news release.He was last seen driving a white 2002 Honda Accord with California license plate 8CJY250.Police urged the public not to approach Mehlenbacher if spotted. “Please do not make any attempt to contact Mehlenbacher. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police have released photos of the man accused of badly beating a Pacific Beach bouncer Sunday night. According to police, four men tried to enter through the side door of a restaurant on the 700 block of Grand Avenue around 9:20 p.m. Sunday when a bouncer told the group they had to use the main entrance. As a confrontation escalated, police say one of the men picked up a metal crowd barrier pole, hitting the bouncer in his head. Others in the group then reportedly started fighting with other bouncers at the restaurant before all four men left, according to police. The bouncer who was hit in the head suffered a skull fracture and brain bleed. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Another bouncer suffered a broken nose and two other staff members suffered some bumps and bruises. The man suspected of swinging the pole was described as black, in his 30s, 6 feet tall, and 250 pounds with a muscular build. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Only in their second year of operation, Wheels of Change is preparing for a major expansion this year.San Diego teenager, Kevin Barber, and his mom, Carolyn Barber, MD, initially launched the program in 2018 in partnership with Alpha Project.Homeless individuals are paid /hr to clean up trash, traveling together in a van to different job sites. Thanks to new sources of funding, the nonprofit will be able to expand crews from 10 to 20 individuals, serving the community five days a week. "We were able to show the world, hey this works! Let's keep funding it more and let's expand the program," said Kevin. The city committed 0,000 to help fund the program, and they've also raised additional funding privately and from foundations.
