SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego State University released its plan Monday relating to holiday travel during the pandemic. It comes as students are getting ready to travel home for the holidays in a few weeks.The policies apply to students living on campus and those with in-person classes.Roughly 2,100 students live on-campus, and about 2,200 students are enrolled in an in-person class or participating in on-campus research, according to SDSU. There is a crossover between the groups.Students living on campus can choose to stay on campus over Thanksgiving. Meal plans and other student services will be available during the break.Students who choose to go home and see family have an option. The plan says they “may choose to remain at home for the rest of the fall semester and complete the last two weeks of the term remotely.”Those that travel and return to on-campus housing will be tested for COVID-19 immediately upon returning and then tested again, five to seven days later.Those taking in-person classes will be asked to test weekly upon returning; they are currently required to test every 14-days. Those taking in-person classes are being encouraged to avoid holiday travel.The notice to students goes on to say:"Each of us must continue to be very thoughtful and careful, even if the effects of COVID-19 seem invisible or have not touched some of us personally. Several religious and spiritual observations are before us in the months ahead, and it is disappointing that we will not be able to celebrate in person many of our traditions with our loved ones in ways we have in the past. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Since they got the call for help a week ago, San Diego Border Dreamers has been working around the clock to set up an emergency medical clinic in Tijuana.Board Director Milad Torabi says he's getting word migrants have conditions including fevers, rashes, blisters and bad sunburns. On a Go Fund Me, they're raising money for basic medical, first aid, and sanitary supplies.The advocacy group is partnering with two UC San Diego organizations which specialize in this area: Flying Samaritans and the International Health Collective.They're accepting monetary donations as well as medical supplies.San Diego Border Dreamers is also seeking doctors, nurses, medical students, acupuncturists, physical therapists and medical translators willing to volunteer their time. 799

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Some 4,500 sailors and marines reunited with their families at Naval Base Coronado Friday. Eight months ago, the Amphibious Assault Ship USS Essex and two support ships, the Anchorage and Rushmore, set sail for the Western Pacific and Middle East.The deployment was of historic significance as the military's newest, multi-use fighter jet, the F-35B flew its first combat missions in support of U.S. troops. The Navy reported the jet supported troops in Iraq, Syria and Afghanastan but the exact nature of that support not being divulged at this point. However, the Essex commander confirmed armaments were used by the aircraft.Friday, the primary focus was hugs and kisses. The "official first kisses" involved two young sailors greeting their wives with long embraces. Fathers also met their babies in person for the first time. One dad told 10News it was impossible to put into words how good it felt to hold his new son. The infant, who seemed at ease in his father's arms, then gave a big smile. Sailor Rhett Orth also held his baby girl for first time. His sentiment shared by many, of how hard it is to be away from home but how amazing it feels to be back. His little girl, seemly overwhelmed by the moment herself, began to cry.The two support ships, Anchorage and Rushmore, also returned Friday morning. They docked at Naval Base San Diego. 1378
