BEIJING, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- China will carry out the House Sale Price Statistical Scheme in 2011, after soliciting opinions via the internet earlier this year, said Ma Jiantang, head of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Thursday.Ma made the remarks at a national statistics work conference, saying the bureau had accepted suggestions from various departments and experts and would work steadily reform the method of calculating the country's house sale prices in 2011."We'll further work with real estate departments, make full use of their network data, and check the authenticity of the data to further push forward the statistical scheme reform," Ma said.The NBS was committed to improve the scheme at the beginning of the year. It released the draft plan on September 25, which said prices, floor areas, and sales of newly-constructed houses in 35 major cities would be based upon data from local real estate departments, instead of independent research.Ma said that the bureau is working on 4 key systems, including building a database for basic surveyed units, one set of standards for surveyed enterprises, data collecting and processing software systems, and direct reporting network systems."The four systems are aimed to guarantee the authenticity, integrity and timeliness of the data," he said.By 2012, above-scale enterprises, above-norm wholesale and retail accommodations and catering businesses, construction enterprises, and real estate enterprises will be able to submit their data directly to a national data center, said the NBS.Also, about 550 cities across the country will use personal digital assistants (PDA) to collect data for the consumer price index (CPI), a major gauge of inflation, as well as farm produce prices, by the end of 2012, the NBS said. 

BEIJING, Nov. 19 (Xinhuanet) --Chinese companies Thursday denied allegations by a Zimbabwe trade union that said Chinese construction firms had violated labor laws there by underpaying and abusing local staff.Ge Yizhong, deputy general manager of Zim Nantong Construction, which is currently operating in Zimbabwe, told the Global Times that local workers his company had hired were satisfied with their working conditions, including salaries."There is no ill-treatment of workers at my company. We have provided protective clothing to local workers and pay them according to the regulations set out by the local trade union," he said. "We have adjusted working hours to meet workers' demands. GUANGZHOU, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- China's southwestern Yunnan and Guizhou provinces agreed Monday to transmit 497 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to the southern Guangdong Province over the next five years.The agreements were signed Monday between the China Southern Power Grid Company (CSG) and the three provinces.Due to a lack of resources such as coal and water, the relatively more developed eastern and southern regions in China face pressure of providing enough electricity to boost their growth."China's coal resources are mainly based in the west and north, while water is also abundant in the southwestern regions. The uneven situation makes it necessary to transmit power from the west to the east," said Qian Zhimin, deputy director of China's National Energy Administration.Qian said China had initiated the west-to-east power transmission program back in 2000. By the end of this year, the CSG has transmitted over 543 billion kilowatt-hours of power through the program.Guangdong, an economic powerhouse in south China, with a gross domestic product exceeding 3.9 trillion yuan (about 583.3 billion U.S. dollars) in 2009, has been the largest beneficiary of the program as almost 120 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity produced in other western provinces is used by Guangdong annually, making up about one-fourth of all the power it uses every year.The CSG is one of China's two major grid operators, along with the State Grid. The CGS invests, builds, and operates power networks in Guangdong, Guizhou, Yunnan and Hainan provinces, and in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
