Is the Oprah Winfrey halo starting to fade from Weight Watchers?Weight Watchers shares fell nearly 15 percent Tuesday after the company reported a decline in subscribers between the first and second quarters.But the market may be overreacting to a calendar problem.For the past few years, Weight Watchers has reported a similar dip in subscribers during that period. The base grew 28 percent from a year ago to 4.5 million.In the third quarter of 2015, the company had fewer than 2.6 million subscribers.Despite the big drop in the stock Tuesday, the company's latest profits actually topped forecasts, and it raised its outlook.Shares in the company are up nearly 80 percent this year and have skyrocketed more than 1,000 percent since Winfrey first invested about million.Weight Watchers has done an extraordinary job over the past few years of making the company's programs more exciting for a broader base of people, particularly since Mindy Grossman — formerly of HSN — took over as CEO last year.The new Weight Watchers Freestyle program lets you eat a wider variety of food. Weight Watchers has also partnered with meditation company Headspace to provide exclusive content on the Weight Watchers app to its subscribers.It's all about wellness, not necessarily how many pounds you've lost.Grossman said during an earnings call with analysts Monday evening that beginning next January, no artificial ingredients will appear in any Weight Watchers-branded products. Democrats are beginning to post fundraising totals for Q2 and numbers show that despite the pandemic, donating to Democratic politicians isn't appearing to take a hit. For example, in Montana, Former Democratic Gov. Steve Bullock announced he has raised .7 million to defeat Republican Sen. Steve Daines, who is also expected to raise millions. Montana is shaping up to be a crucial state for Democrats. Currently, Republicans control 53 seats in the United States Senate. It is looking more likely a Republican will win the Senate race in Alabama which means Republicans will have 54 seats. But they must also defend seats in states like Montana, Colorado, Arizona, North Carolina, Georgia and Maine. Democrats believe it is possible to win five of those races, giving Democrats control. Democrats would also gain control the Senate if they win four of those races and Joe Biden wins the presidency, since the vice oresident casts tie-breaking votes. It's been several hours since Hurricane Laura made landfall, but the storm is still delivering devastating gusts of wind to inland Louisiana.In it's 4 a.m. CT update, the National Hurricane Center downgraded Laura from a Category 4 hurricane to a Category 3 hurricane. But the storm is still delivering maximum sustained winds of 120 mph, and "unsurvivable storm surge."According to the NHC, Laura will continue to deliver hurricane-force winds to central and northern Louisiana throughout the day on Thursday. The storm will then move to the northeast, bringing heavy rain to the Missouri Valley and Ohio Valley regions on Friday and through the weekend.Laura made landfall near Cameron, Louisiana at about 1 a.m. CT on Wednesday as an "extremely dangerous" Category 4 storm with 150 mph sustained winds. The Category 4 rating makes Laura is the strongest hurricane to make landfall in Louisiana in at least 60 years, according to the National Weather Service.The National Hurricane Center (NHC) said Wednesday that "Laura is expected to produce catastrophic impacts from the coast to well inland; life-threatening storm surge, extreme winds, torrential rain, flooding, and tornadoes."On early Thursday morning, NOAA's Coastal Inundation Dashboard showed storm surge warnings all across Louisiana's shoreline. The dashboard also noted that readings from Calcasieu Pass — a tributary near Cameron that flows into the Gulf of Mexico — showed that surge was recorded at about 9 feet as of 1:30 a.m. CT."Take the next few hours and get your family to a safe location," Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards said at a Wednesday afternoon press conference.
